Topic: [Fixed: 1655] Something better than "dummy" perhaps

I apologize in advance if this is the wrong place for this post.

In extern.php, the email address "dummy@example.com" is used (line 131).

As a result, that email address appears multiple times in my forum's RSS feeds associated with some (but not all) posters. You can see it in punbb's own feed here.

I would suggest a more appropriate name be used for this email address. Perhaps, "undefined@" or "null@" or something without a negative connotation (see first definition).

In many communities, it is more common for "dummy == dumb" rather than "dummy == substitute".

(BTW, thanks for your work on PunBB. It's a terrific forum package!)

We will consider your preposition.
You can change the email address at your forum yourself.

Where do I change this dummy@example.com into something else or nothing at all?

Fixed.

Re: [Fixed: 1655] Something better than "dummy" perhaps

I found that and removed it all together. But how come in my RSS, the correct email address of the poster never shows up? It's always the replacement email address (dummy/null)

Do you mean a guest or a registered user? The e-mail of a registered user is displayed only if he has allowed it in his profile.

BTW, you can take the last extern.php again.

I'm browsing bugs that should be fixed at 1.3.5 so sorry for little bump, but I'm thinking, that most users have default setting of showing email (= disabled).

So wouldn't it be better, when the feed would produce <author>Nick</author>, when email showing is disabled, and <author>Nick (mail@whatever)</author> when it is allowed?
