Topic: SEO and mod_rewrite

hello there,

just installed this board on my local ibook and it works pretty good, i love it.
now what i've noticed is that it doesn't support any kind of mod_rewriting and it sucks for search engine optimization.

so my feature request is that you code something to change the urls, examples:
http://punbb.org/forums/viewforum.php?id=48 (bad)
http://punbb.org/forums/viewforum-48.html(good)

http://punbb.org/forums/profile.php?id=2 (bad)
http://punbb.org/forums/profile-2.html (good)
http://punbb.org/forums/Rickard.html (username) (even better)

with some easy mods, it#s possible with phpbb and vbulletin, so why not make this little cute even more better.

Re: SEO and mod_rewrite

This feature has been requested before. And in some recent topics you can find that they are working on a solution to provide support for mod_rewrite.

Alltough it is not really needed. punbb get's indexed by google without any trouble.

Re: SEO and mod_rewrite

I think you can get urls like:
forums.punbb.org/viewtopic/34315
forums.punbb.org/viewforum/1

The issues in changing it midstream is to make sure the old way still gets you there. Especially since topics are linked in this forum, at web sites and via Google.

I like friendlier urls myself, not because of Google but because it's easier to type out when providing a link.
