Topic: Adsense - some advice, please

Hey guys,

I've recently been approved for Adsense (woo!) and have popped the ads on my site and forum.  However, I'm not sure how well they're going to work...see, I've integrated them into the look and feel, trying to make them look 'natural'.  The thing is, though, I don't want people to skim over them without realising that they're there.

I was wondering if a few of you design gurus could take a look and tell me what your opinions are, and if you have any recommendations.

Thanks everyone smile

i think they look good, but you could give them a slightly different background if you want them to get noticed more

Re: Adsense - some advice, please

Adsense takes a few days to kick in, the forum seems to be getting targeted ads but the front page is still getting public service ads.

Re: Adsense - some advice, please

Place the ads higher up the page and you will probably get more clicks.
don't change the colour scheme as it blends in nicely with your site...so people will think it is part of your forum and they will read the ads

on this page ---->http://www.le-comique.com/comic/  maybe place the ad right under the comic?

but more importantly...the comic/artwork looks tres funky big_smile

Re: Adsense - some advice, please

I'd recommend you think about what Alexander says about placement.  I've placed my Google AdSense ads near the top of the page, and have gotten a number of clicks from this area.  While I can't say whether or not it's really based upon placement (I'm not going to move them to the bottom - thanks wink ) looking at your forum I find the AdSense links to be buried.  I see Pages: 1 and stop right there - maybe letting my eyes wander to the dropdown.

If you are going to keep the ads way down under, I recommend you change the style of the ads.  I can't speak for style for higher placement, but since I'm arguing that I can't see the ads now, one way of making them stand out would be a different style ...  If you move them up, then that may change.

Of course, the problem with moving the ads up is that the current flow is quite nice.  Since you've got a huge top image, adding anything more before your forum is going to cause problems (on 1024x768 and Firefox, I can see only the first post in your forum, and on 800x600 I can see nothing past Le Forum).

May I suggest that you resize/combine "Le Forum" and "Talk about how good we are in here" (keep them on two lines, but either decrease the space between them and/or resize the font).

Of course, if you're stats say that your users use 1280x1024 primarily, then disregard my comments, as your site looks pretty nice in that resolution.

(And your styles/colour scheme look great in any resolution, by the way - very nice.)
