I found no information about this on the forums.
Is it possible to create a usergroup for spiders and put Googlebot, MSN bot and so on in there?

I take it that you have forums that only registered users can see?
Then why would you want the world to see these private conversations?

I just wanna be able to see when spiders are visiting my forums, nothing more

Which you can't see with just a usergroup, you want user accounts

The best way is to look at your logs, your hosting provider should have a Web statistics program.
I use Awstats and it tells me when was the last time the spiders come crawling, Googlebot is hitting me all day as is MSNbot, Inktomisearch and some others.
PunBB is spidered just fine just like any other dynamic application these days. If you want to see if it's really being spidered, link to a forum thread from another site that you have. The more you link to your forum, the better it will be show up on searches.
