Topic: Where are the Mods?

I just installed PunBB and realized that there is no built in PM function sad Searching for a mod, I found a link to your forums where people talk about a beast called "PM Mod". I think the mod would suit me fine. But can I find it? No!

I went back to the PuBB.org landing page and can find no mention of Mods. I searched the forums and found plenty of people talking about this, and other interesting mods.

I went back to PunBB.org again - nope. Can't find any mods (or links to them - they must be REALLY well hidden).

I'll go back to Google, Yahoo and MSN and, if that doesn't work, I'll just install PhpBB (they have a clearly labelled link to mods and plugins on theire site wink )

Anybody know where the PunBB mods are hidden?

Why all the secrecy?

The mods are hidden over at http://www.punres.org/ but Rickard has released a few official ones that can be found on the downloads page.

Thanks Elzar, but I'm not seeing it.

On the Downloads page I get the option to download some archives (including mirrors to them), download PunBB, Language modules, Admin Plugins, Migration Tool, Localization tool and a Mod Tool.

It's too well hidden for me smile Do I not have the neccessary rights to get mods yet?

I just took a quick trip over to punres.org - it's just another forum!

Is there something I'm missing here?

Where can I "download" Mods from?

I think I'm going to stop wasting my time here and go download PhpBB.

You may have seen the 'Mod Releases' forum at PunRes which notifies you of the latest mods.

And at the top of the page you'll see a link to the Projects.

I meant things like Easy BBCode. That used to be on there. My memory is poor.

Whilst a little searching will find the mods quickly enough the link on the front page which reads "Punres" is actually meaningless on its own. It might be better if it said "Punres (Mods & Styles) or or even "Mods & Styles (Punres)" or something similar. It might even increase the hit rate for Punres.

Alternatively, and a good idea anyway, use of the title attribute to provide more information about Punres, SpinkBB and PunBBig.

I'm getting too confused with PunBB - you need to reorganize guys. Cut out the hidden, secret links to mods (which I still can't find) and stop sending people to the oposition...

By the way, the PhpBB install went very smoothly - there are things about it which I don't like as much as PunBB, but the mods are easy to find (i don't need them though, it's already included).

Thing is, I want to keep the mods very clearly separated from PunBB. I know the phpBB people have lots of problems with people complaining that something is broken in phpBB when in fact, it is a problem related to a mod. I want to everything possible to avoid that.

Anyway, I've updated the links the way Paul suggested (it now reads "Mods and Styles").
