Re: PunBB needs your money!

I think that $400 is probably a more reasonable goal, as you're a bit far from $900.

so slow, lets just change at this right it is going to take like a while:

29-22= 7days, and we are already at 322 so roughly 300 per 6 days
therefore 12 days more,
however we need to also need to remember that there is a certain number of people who can donate and some already donate, so there are less donators: so add 1 day to every 50 dollars then 2 days the next 50, etc:

therefore: 22 days roughly until we get 900 bucks

if only since the first 2 donations were $100 each and i doubt many people want to spend that much on PunBB wink

Re: PunBB needs your money!

20x20 wouldn't be bad, 10x10 is too small.

Now comes the dilemma of where to place it wink

Maybe we should settle on $400 and by 20x20 pixels?

Why not use the million penny page ?

Hey everyone, my name is Jeremy and I host http://millionquarterwebpage.com .  Yes, I was very skeptical when we started the million quarter webpage, but we are recieving TONS of traffic and our sponsors are getting a great ROI.  So, If anyone would like to advertise more than 1 square contact me direct and i'll make sure to make it worth your while.  Thanks for your support.

Re: PunBB needs your money!

milliondollarhomepage.com was the first and should be rewarded for being first. I doubt buying a bunch of pixels has any real advertisement value. I'm just doing it because it's fun and because I think it was such a good idea that the guy who thought it up is worth a couple of bucks.

Ok i don't think we need a run down of everyones ripoff site tongue

Re: PunBB needs your money!

Maybe I'm missing something, but isn't the expectation that the return on this investment will be greater than the investment itself?   So $400 in a 20 x 20 pixel will provide > $400 in some kind of revenue?

I'd be more happy to see Rickard put the money in his pocket and/or run some ads on www.ask.com : http://sponsoredlistings.ask.com/

wow... i am impress, NOT
I am currently redeveloping the idea. for 25 bucks a year for a 10x10 pixel instead of 50, for pictures not on the front page. and 50 on the front page. For 5 years, you will only pay half of what 1 million is offering

Re: PunBB needs your money!

All of these sites result in worthless, untargeted traffic. I paid for pixels on milliondollarhomepage.com because I thought the idea was original, funny, and had built some buzz. I rewarded the creator for his creativity and because he made me smile.

Other than that, why would I want to pay to advertise on a page thats sole content is advertisements?!

The only other people who will visit the site are suckers who are looking to buy advertising and some curious looky-loos (and they will only come around for the first few months). It's a waste of money if you are actually looking for a ROI.

Re: PunBB needs your money!

I've been giving this some thought, and even though I still think the guy behind milliondollarhomepage.com is a genius and that he deserves our money, what reviewum.com said does make a lot of sense. Maybe we should use the money to invest in some proper advertisement for PunBB? One thing that occurred to me was that we could upgrade the HotScripts.com listing to a "Premium listing". With the exception of google.com, hotscripts.com is the top referrer for PunBB. Upgrading it to a premium listing will cost $120 for a year. A "Sponsored listing" on the other hand, is ridiculously expensive at $1600 for a year.

I will not do this without permission from the people who donated for the milliondollarhomepage thing. Just so you know. If you don't like that the money might be spent on anything else than 30x30 pixels on that website, just let me know and I'll transfer the money back to you.

Re: PunBB needs your money!

buy adsense ads for valid forum or something like that.. that will help more than spending 400$ for nothing

Re: PunBB needs your money!

i say go with the HotScripts one.

I vote for Hotscripts too.  I go there to find all sorts of scripts, it would be worth it.

Personally I don't care. I donated my money to PunBB, so you decide what's best for you.

Re: PunBB needs your money!

Hotscripts Premium gets you some visual enhancements to your listing which are meaningless to the average viewer. My guess is that what makes the difference at Hotscripts is a top ten popularity rating and a high score. The Premium listing strikes me as being a great way for Hotscripts to generate cash without actually doing anything for you. Thats why the sponsored listing is so expensive, they know that the guaranteed top 8 listing is what really matters.

Re: PunBB needs your money!

Nah, I agree: it doesn't look all that worthwhile (although screenshots might be nice tongue)

Edit: Keep in mind I haven't donated, so my opinion doesn't really count smile
