Topic: re: guest users timezone.

hi. this has been bothering me for a while. I have a copy of punbb physically located in the US, populated almost integrally by south-european users. therefore, whenever a guest wanders by more often than not she'll think we're all vicious night-crawling vampires, run for her life and don't look back. now, I know ("can guess") that it's nearly impossible to determine what timezone a user is in before she registers and sets it manually.

but then I thought, hey, maybe I can, at the very least, fix the timezone for all guests. after all most of them share the same timezone, and this is true, I'd wager, for most non-english-speaking forums. it sounds reasonable. in a hunch I tried modifying the timezone value on the database for user==1, but that didn't work. I'd... look into the code, but am terribly busy at the moment (and will be for a while :( ). is it... possible? nothing worth a heavy makeover, I know, but maybe (just maybe) a line here and there would suffice but noone ever thought about it before. (a little presumptuous, I know, but... hey!)

best regards.

Don't worry, search is a hit-and-miss kind of thing. Sometimes you get the right combo of words, sometimes you don't.
