Topic: news and stuff

I am trying to make a news section in my website, and when ever there is topic in the news section, The first post would appear in the news page. I need to get some things straight.

1) all my punbb stuff is going to be in my root folder if I want to do this with my homepage?
2) I rename index.php from punbb to forum.php, and the new index.php that I will create would be my home page?
3) All this is going to be on my homepage if number 2 is true

<?php

4)what does "truncate news" mean?

I have more questions, but I need to know the answers for the first 4 before continuing. thanks if you can help.

Re: news and stuff

#1 I'm not sure what you're asking.
I have news on my site (integrated in with the punbb user database) if that's what oyu're asking and you do NOT need to put it all in the same folder.

#2 To make something else be index.php in the same folder as the forum, you would need rename the forum forum.php or whatever  you want it to be called AND edit the files like viewtopic and the others so that it's recognized everywhere as forum.php and not index.php

#3 uhh...okay then

#4 truncate (if you're talking about sql) is to delete whatever is in a table.
So, by truncating news, you delete everything in your news table.

Re: news and stuff

go to pures..look for newsportal that the same thing that you are trying to do....

Q

My stuff or my style might sux, but atleast I'm willing to help when I can.
Don't be stupid and help ! We are the stupid one's !!!

Re: news and stuff

4. "Truncate" simply means to shorten a string (in this case, the topic subject and/or first message) if it exceeds a certain length. It would only affect display on the news page, not actually change the contents of the topic.
