Re: new user registration requires code embedded in an image

I just had 3 new spambot registrations and there are spam texts cluttering my board now...*sigh*

does anyone know if captcha or some image-based security code will be implemented into ver 1.3 or even a plugin?
-this has got to be a core feature!!!

Re: new user registration requires code embedded in an image

There's already a modification for it now and 1.3 will have anti-spam extensions. wink

It's not a core feature for a couple reasons, some having to do with accessability and others having to do with performance (and the fact that not everyone has GD).
Oh, and that image you pasted is a bad example of a CAPTCHA: reading the text from that would be no trouble for a bot.

Re: new user registration requires code embedded in an image

does anyone have a sample script of what these bots do?
-would renaming register.php to something else help and what would be the repercussions?

Re: new user registration requires code embedded in an image

I'd rather think about what I'm getting for Xmas than 1.3 - it's will be a long wait sad
