Thank you for the reply. The issue with the "style" of the site had to do with the name server not quite transferred.  So the site looks correct.

However, the big issue I am having is moving the data.  In working with my new host, I am trying to transfer the SQL data from a 4.0 SQL database and import into a SQL 5.0 database.  We were able to import the data into an older 4.0 server, but there are errors in going from 4.0 to 5.0.  Are you aware of any issues in importing from SQL 4.0 to SQL 5.0?

Also, do I need to recreate the list of forums? I copied the Forums from one server to the other but the list of forum areas is missing.  Is that contained in the database?

Thank you again for all of the help!!

Sorry,

The custom style of the forum is changed.  It looks as if the CSS is different, but everything was simply copied from one server to the other.

Also, I think I am not clear on how to move the database over.

Thank you

I am having issues moving our forum to another host.  In researching the posts here this is what i did:

- Copied the forum files from the old server to the new one

- Created a new database and users on the new server

- Ran install.php on the new server to recreate the config file

In checking the forum, I have lost a lot of my formatting.  Were other files changed in the install?  Also, how do you add the databases from the old server to the new one?

Thank you for any and all assistance as this has become a time sensitive issue.

OK.  So they are added lines not changed lines.  Well there may have been a mod.  We are getting nailed with porn on our site, and wanted to get current.  At this point I am guessing starting fresh would be best.  Now I have to figure out how to keep my UI changes.

Is there a walk-through on that process?  I appreciate the clean and efficient design of PunBB and your help.

Thank you.

I am not making sense of the changes to the "Moderate" code for updating from 1.2.14 to 1.2.16.

It states that there are changes in lines 101-107, but line 108 does not match the original file with the changes.  I know I am missing something, but everything was good till now.  Please advise.

I am still getting SPAM after mods, so I want to be able to approve the posts before they are viewed.  It appears PunBB supports it, but in looking at every admin feature I cannot find it, nor the documentation.  Can someone point out this feature as I appear to be blind.  Thanks.

I am getting this error:

Error: Unable to write configuration cache file to cache directory. Please make sure PHP has write access to the directory 'cache'.

I have verified that is has "user" write privileges.  Do I need to make it fully open?

Thank you...

Very appreciated.

Forgive me, but that is where I am out of my6 league.  I am aware of setting permissions for FTP, but is there a tutorial on CHMOD'ing the cache folder?  Thank you.

CodeXP and all:  I added your MOD.  Will see how it goes...Thank you!!!!  Glad I could contribute to a long discussion, and really appreciate PunBB!  8-)

Thank you for the info and the dialog.  I am unsure now though, is there an updated version of your MOD to use?

Thank you again!

I am getting this error, and didn't previously.  I deleted all cache files, but it still gives:

An error was encountered
Error: Unable to write bans cache file to cache directory. Please make sure PHP has write access to the directory 'cache'

Any ideas?

Thank you!

Thank you for the info.  I currently have a MOD that requires the user to enter what they see visually.  It appears to not do the thing.  I will keep your MOD under advisement.

Also, thank you for the hdiff file.  It seems the long way, but the sure way.

Hello,

I currently have our site on x.x.14, and see that 15 is out.  I went to do the patch mode and using the OSX Terminal app was unsuccessful.  I then just replaced the modified files manually, but our site lost its style.  So then I looked at the HIFF file and read through the forums.  I am not certain where to go from here.  Is terminal even able to accomplish the patch?

Secondly, will this patch solve some SPAM.  PunBB is being used on a commercial site, and we had some not so nice spam.  Will there always be the bad stuff?  Is there a way to handle it before users are able to see it?

Thanks for any insight on the above.

Worked like a charm... Thank you very much.

I am not sure if this is a PunBB issue or just my issue, but I cannot get rid of a break in the header of our site.  This works great on all pages except the page that hosts our forums.  Could anyone give  a quick look and see what I may be missing.  You can see the extra line below the nav bar.  Thank you!

I do have the name.  I set the localhost, and the access info, and still get an access error.  This database is hosted on Startlogic, and I access through the phpBB admin, or the phpMyAdmin.  I tried those and failed, and was lookin for a more direct method.

Thank you for the prompt reply.  The tool in currently on the server, but in the controls I am not able to access the database.  I see the punBB database, but not the MySQL.

I think I am missing something simple.

I could not locate any information on general imports and am new to punPP.  I currently have a phpBB forum, and wanted to move the data to punBB.  I tried the migration tool, but can only access the database thtough php or PHPMyAdmin.  Is there a way to import into punBB from a database export or back up file?

Thank you
