OK,
I risk looking daft :0
I registered on the new forum and posted also with no outward sigh than any anti spam system was in place.
Is this how it should be?
I have put punstopbots in now and downgraded to 1.33.
If I have made an error in understanding I would rather go back to 1.4 and use fancy...
Thanks for your patience.
Lawrie
Thanks for being so quick to respond.
I had assumed that there were questions to answer.
so, is there a hidden honeypot that bots will fill in and genuine folk cannot see?
I have installed fancy stop spam but it does not show on the registration page at all.
This is a new V1.4 forum
I am therefore using the account activation by email.
Will this prevent spam registrations?
Thanks
felixturner wrote:Just hit the same issue. When auto upgrading Antispam System to v1.3.2, captcha no longer appeared. Setting antispam extension folder to 755 fixes it. thanks!
Same for me.
Seems that there are a few hosts like this
I found that the Guest entry in the users table was corrupted.
Once sorted everything is fine.
Must have been me at one stage but cannot work out why I even went there.
Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks for your help
I have checked permissions and guests are only allowed to read posts.
I have checked DB and this is the same.
The only anomoly I have seen is that the table forum_perms is empty.
I will install the forum on another site, check DB, insert data and transfer DB to existing site.

OK,
This gets stranger.
I have settings where guests cannot post a new topic or reply...yet I cn when logged out.
That is what is letting the spmmers in.
Any advice?
Thanks

Hi,
Sorry if this is old but I am getting spam posts where the users are not registered and do not show up in the DB as users.
I have set it up so users have to be registered to post.
Any way to fix this ?
Thanks
Lawrie
If I uploaded the latest version could I rplace the new database directly with the old one
Thanks

Hi I have an old version on a site made in 2004.
I wondered if there was a simple captcha that could be put on it.
The look was customised so I assume upgrading the site would be lenghty
thanks

I am trying to create a link from the admin section of a site which opens up the administration of the forum without having to log on.
I have done it with a gallery with something like this:
<form action="http://www.mydomain.co.uk/forum/admin_index.php" method="post" name="form2" id="form2">
<input name="Submit" type="submit" value="form">
<input type="hidden" name="action" value="login" />
<input type="hidden" name="password" size=8 value="timspassword">
<input type="hidden" name="user" size=8 value="tim">
</form>
This is not working
Anyone help with this
thanks
