i agree it takes talent for sure, BUT in my opinion some of the "after" shots look horrid and more fake than anything.

the site isn't "my" site, it's just a site i admin. we use vb for some features that aren't possible(yet) on punbb. BUT i am fully in charge of a site/portal for our group of friends that i just built on PunBB Frontpage
http://www.theplatoon.com/hangout/

if it was up to me we would have used PunBB for the main site also since it is a HUGE decrease in system resources and with a potential member base up in the area of 20-30k, it would be easier on the server in the long run.

i am admining a new website and we have a dedicated server that we admin ALL of it ourselves so there is nothing but an os on this box. i have php, apache, mysql and phpmyadmin all installed and working beatifuly, now i need a good and easy mail server for our needs. does anyone have any experiance setting one up and can point me to a EASY mail server app i can set up? we would like to use smtp and have webmail access if possible, but if not the staff can use outlook or thunderbird to access mail. we just need a server that our forums can send mail from and that is secure and you guessed it, EASY to use.

any help is appreciated.

note: this will be my first time ever setting up a mail server so be gentle. wink

delete it or someone might find themselves with a new forum that doesn't belong to them.

or php-fusion? (php-fusion.co.uk)

Typo is very heavy... I don't like it

PHP-Fusion just released v6 and is much better than their last release. it's tied with XooPs for my favorite.

point taken... i still don't agree. what about security? don't you think that you can afford the forum/site admin one more fight against hackers/spammers? if all they have is a name and post then it might not be of much use. of course there are the smart ones who know how to check their logs, but what about the novice? atleast an email addy is one more tool for their fight.

still some valid points at 3:21am i guess. tongue

define messed up?
links you put in the announcement box if i recall must be standard links(http://....) and not just www.domain.com or it won't parse them correctly.

just open the url to your forums, if everything is ok it should go to your main forum page.
