Try new punbb extension pun_invitation_only. It makes registration on the forum possible only in case a person gets an invitation letter. These letters can be sent by forum admin or by other users who have a permission to invite new members.

Please describe the actions after which you got that screen.
Thanks in advance.

Yes, it is planned some time in the future. But there are some other features wee need to implement first. And because of the changes in our team, we don't have enough developers and time to work on avatars right now.

I can't figure out a way to get rid of them other than uninstall and reinstall the extension.  Which works, but is probably not ideal.

krackato, we were not able to  reproduce the bug with "hanging" topics. Check if you are using the latest version of the extension. If this problem continues to happen, describe all the actions which lead to it, step by step. Thank you.

Also, I keep having a lot of posts just sort of "hang."

Can you describe in more details how you get this error? Because when I try, everything works fine.

What is the difference between the top two?

The difference is that the first option allows users from the certain group to post without approval and the second option allows users to approve posts of others. That's what was supposed to be the solution to your problem - allow moderators to approve posts of others. But I think there is a bug there. Because when I tried to allow moderators to approve new posts, the link in forum header didn't appear. We'll fix it as soon as possible. And we'll also try to figure out why  topics stay unapproved when there are no posts to approve in them.

BB coding is already implemented in punbb.net. There are no bb code buttons yet, so usage of BB codes is little bit inconvenient. But you can use all standard bb code tags.

Is there some way to turn on "Enable New Posts Approval" within that window?

krackato, what do you mean? Are you speaking about an option when you can turn post approval on for all new posts of the forum no matter what group poster belonged to?

colak wrote:

can it be used so as to moderate the approval of posts by new members only?

There is an option in group settings (when editing properties of a group) which allows you to use post approval for this certain group. So if there is a group  on your forum for new members only, you can moderate posts of users from this group, but all other groups of users will post without approval.
