But why not use the web server's built-in indexer? Like this.

I didn't know you could do that!  Thanks!  Any resources on how to implement this?

I think the sophia post is spam.  After looking at the chat, it is nothing along the lines of punbb.  Way too bloated!  Perhaps they are just trying to get links directed at their site.  I noticed that the forum they link to is not punbb but rather another (inferior) forum offering.  Its a shame people feel a need to post garbage links on other sites to supposedly increase the value of their own.

I would have been a bit gentler if they were using Punbb, but since they are not, I don't see how they can say "Let admin sophia knows if you want the 123flashchat and this coooooool forum ----punbb together!"

What a crock!  No, I haven't had my coffee yet this morning!  Sorry for the flame!

I'm using Firefox 1.5 and this extension is still not compatible.

Has anybody tried FastSum?

How about this approach?

Build an HTML page of the links you want to have on everyones desktop.  Host it somewhere.  Turn on Windows much maligned 'Active Desktop' feature ('feature' here is obviously a very loose term) on everyones computers and point it to your custom built HTML page. Now just delete all the icons from everyones desktop.

There you have it.  An extremely weird way to interface with your pc but doable nevertheless!  smile

If your running Linux... I haven't a clue!

I am curios if the tech oriented crowd that lingers in these forums care about MD5 checksum?  Do you check the files you download?  What is the easiest/quickest way people have found to do this?

Its seems there are about 100 different approaches to checking downloaded files, I am looking for the one that is easiest to use.

Thanks for your insights!

I have been following On2 Technologies ever since Macromedia licensed their codec for use in Flash.  Now Skype has announced a beta version of Skype 2.0 with video powered by On2 codecs.  Super cool stuff.  I see video taking over the web in the next year.  Gotta love it!

Thanks so much for all your hard work.  Great stuff as usual!

I was perusing the Internet looking for large multi-screen displays when I found this one.

I just started laughing when I saw it!  I need a bigger desk!!! smile

I have tested numerous CMS and I hate most of them.  Almost all of them seem to fail is one aspect or another.  Either too bloated, too slow, too complicated, too ugly, etc...

One I can recommend, although its not perfect... its seems to be moving in the right direction is Website Baker.

Screenshots can be found here.

I have Firefox 1.04 and it works fine.  What version do you have?

Last night my brother and I saw Sith and the theater had a one-sheet posted in the lobby of 'The 40-Year-Old Virgin'.

This has got to be the funniest movie poster I have ever seen.

Here is a link.

There will also be a non-professional version.  smile

New Adobe Web Development studio?

Dreamweaver
Flash
Photoshop
Illustrator
Acrobat (yuck!)

Probably say goodbye to Fireworks, Golive, Freehand and SVG.

Excellent article by one of the Macromedia product managers discussing the aquisition.

I tend to agree with you.  What other competition is out there for the behemoth that Adobe has become.

Now my worst nightmare would be Microsoft buying Adobe.  Gulp sad

Man, my jaw hit the floor when I saw this announcement.

How is this going to affect the web development community.  Good or Bad?

Thanks again for a great release.  Even though the releases are frequent... I would rather have the updated versions with security problems addressed than have a version with problems.  Keep up the excellent work, Rickard!  It is very much appreciated!

I now wonder if it was a spoof or an attempt to provide a better search engine.  How can they use the Google and Yahoo trademarks with major legal problems?

This is a great spoof, but these guys are begging for a lawsuit!

Hello eq1987,

Did you ever have any success in this endeavor?  I am interested in doing something similar.

Its funny how many CMS projects are out there.  Even with all of them... it doesn't seem like anything stands out as being special.  Kinda frustrating.  I want a CMS that stands out from the crowd like Pun stands out from the other forum offerings.

Even on my very first impression of Pun... I just knew it was the forum for me.  Clean, simple, standard compliant, so straightforward my grandma could figure out how to start her own community.  All this... not to mention a great group of technology gurus with a drive and zeal for better software solutions.

Yeah... I dont really like any of the Nuke stuff.  I like clean, simple, and secure.  I took a look at Geeklog... have never installed it though.

Ok.... thought a thread like this might be started already with my friends here at PunBB.

Question.

I have tried numerous content management systems.  These seem to take the spotlight.

Typo3
Mambo
Drupal
WordPress (perhaps not a cms.. but seems to be good enough)

Any thoughts are appreciated on these or other good CMS you might like.  Just want the best... don't we all?  smile

Thanks in advance for any advice on this!
