Hum ... yes but in the 2 cases, it's not I would like smile
in the 2 cases you have to go in a thread, for me, I would like to add an admin option for people who have the rights to up pdf smile (so all is controled by pun, but don't appear in the forum)

Thanx for the answer.

OK ... I continue my trip / requests smile

So I have planned to do a "PDF Factory"
Among my users, I have persons who work in cinema, theatre, concerts ... and a lot of them are able to give me PDF ... I would like if it's possible to have a similar thing, but it would be quite different because it was not inside a post, but in another page (using the rights of users (like groups))

I'll test your image post today smile

if you edit to erase the pic from the thread, the pic is always stored isn't it ??? So you have to go to the admin (or ftp) and erase the pic right ??? But adding an admin button beneath the pic with "erase the pic" = erase the pic from the thread and from the stored folder ... ? ...

smile ...

another thing (and promise ... I stop smile)

but instead of going the admin to erase for example a pic .. when you have rights (with groups ??? : admin / mod or particular group) ... under the uploaded PIC INSIDE the thread, you have a "mini" admin which appears : in a first time we can imagine simply "erase the picture" ... you'll say me "edit the post, and erase" ... yes, and I have to go to admin to erase the pic ... so I click 1 .. 2 ... 3 times ... with this method, only one smile

the top would be to store pics inside folders which have the same name of the topic.

Why ??? By doing this, it's quite easy to create a PHP gallery which scans the name of folders / topics ... smile

root
- name of my topic
  - img 1 - up by user 10
  - img 2 - up by user 40

- name of my topic
  - img 1 - up by user 1050
  - img 2 - up by user 100

and if you click by user (profile.php ?) you see the pics the user has up' sorting by name of topic.

The advantage would be great for forums artists for example ... (or forums which use a lot of pics)

Very interesting ... maybe I'll contact you for a bigger project smile but for newbies, it's perfect. is it possible to have a page which lists the uploaded files ?

In beta test (and not beta bugs, real bugs smile)

Coppermine ...

http://www.sortons.net/photos/?theme=sulfur

CPG dev would rather to surf One pic = One page. For me pics have not been loose time and bandwidth. It's in XMLHTTPREQUEST ... the page = 4ko, the CSS 3ko and the script 5ko ... for a gallery which has 83 000 pictures smile

So ... the next etape is to plug with PunBB (Email - Website - Gallery and ... oh the layer of photos appears directlly)

Don't think so.
You will always have to define a maximum size to prevent huge files from being uploaded and you having to pay for it.
So what's the difference between a limit of 500k and 60x60 pixels?
wink

I  think you have don't understand my request smile

You put a photo ... any size or any weight (you fix the max on admin)

but it creates a thumb of this pic : cropped or not (defined by the max h/w in admin)

So people don't have to take a soft to reduce their pic : Pun could be able to do this on the fly (with GD or IM)

The best thing would be Pun was able to resize pic (cropped or not)

Why ?? Because even if you show how to make an avatar, the user wants simplicity.

I'm continuing ...

http://www.sortons.net/agenda/ > my model site.
I have finished to transform my nucleus index > http://www.sortons.net/nucleus/
and with your code Paul, I would like to show my MAIN forum with the same system of box smile
http://www.sortons.net/forum/

However I need your help on http://www.sortons.net/nucleus/
under IE, scroll at the bottom : I have a portion of code of a box outside ... don't understand why
under FF, when I'm passing mouse on links, the first box clips ...

It's annoying when you have to type yourself BBcode ... but with my request made by Rickard (easy bbcode) ... all people can do code easily smile

badrad: thanks but thats the standard solution and the one I'm already using. Its working out what to put in the hidden portions which is the problem particularly when trying to use whats already available.

Related to this. Does anybody actualy use the topic pages on viewforum e.g.

Topic blah blah blah [1, 2]

I either hit the topic to go to the first post or hit last post. I can't think I've ever used those links to jump to a particular page in a thread.

sorry, but ... people on my site use it smile

but we can imagine a system show/hide layer (dhtml ? block / none displaying ?) ...

I think PunBB is in advance, and I like Paul you don't stay on your ground : you experiment, and that's why Pun is really different of all other boards. Go on !!!

With your experimental layout, it's quite easy to see it would be interesting to redesign the viewtopic.php

with #id, we can imagine use the same markup, but change the layout ... the SMALL CSS is near ! smile

Very impressive !!!

DO IT PAUL and RICKARD ... and I think you will be the first forum where people can design their forum with their vision ...

HAPPY TO SEE this smile

where there are regular visitors who are willing to take the time to learn

The Key sentence : new generation doesn't want to learn. One example.

On my site, you can win a lot places for cinema or concert.

The only thing is to put your name/firstname (only seen by me) and your real photo.

All new users don't do this basic thing to win. I think Paul you have a too big optimism about new generation smile

Actually he'd probably say it would slow the boards down too much. PunBB is meant to be light, not full of bloated DHTML.

Textile is fast to write, and so it would fit in nicely here. PunBB could help other forum makes adopt this awesomely simple language.

false.

A dhtml textarea is about 10 ko ... once cached, it's perfect.

I think the dev' don't see the new generation of Internet, which discovers Internet and PC world in same time. When I began in 1998, I had played with TO9 when I was 7 ... it's a finished time.

With tableless system, you have CHOICE : faking a table layout, but do all you want ... it's possible to change the layout simply with the CSS : or it's not possible when you have table (a table stays ... a table smile) but your example has given me ideas smile

The top would be http://www.url-of-the-site.com/forum/name-of-forum/ (without ID)

Well, aside from the fact that of course a board has to look nice on Lynx as well wink
I used to switch off the DHTML wysiwyg editor in my last board after a while.
Too many people found it extremely funky to spoil their messages with huge, green, red, blue, bold, italic and possibly blinking text.
If you give people tools you must trust them that they know how to handle these tools, that's what I think.
And from my experience 50% of all users don't use them and the other half overdo it.
And having only minimal layout possibilities keeps the board readable smile

a dhtml area with only possibility to do links, bold, underline ... is perfect : or in my case, use the css of my nucleus to have the same layout between nucleus and punBB for example ... smile

there are 2 webmasters :
- who using dhtml to have stars around its mouse all over the screen
- who using dhtml for a better and intuitive navigation smile

The best thing for final user would be a WYSIWYG and not a textarea ... all in dhtml with directly the form. But dev would say "yes but it's not compatible with Mosaic".

Linux is the best, but all people don't want to enter line codes : and it's normal. Same thing here. Textile is simply not at all explicit. And after, when these people learn html, the logic way of bbcode help them. Textile ... not intuitive, sorry.

One of the advantages of the DIV layout, I would like to show the index forum like my agenda page
http://www.sortons.net/agenda/  > 1 box = 1 forum ... and with Tables it's not possible (or it's possible but very not beautiful at all)
