Like me : don't activate IMG sig I think PunBB has not this problem (phpBB is a worm hole )
If Textile was so better than BBcode, all forums would use textile. BBcode is simply for the final user, and you know all the new generation of users need really simplicity.
Stay BBcode (and sorry, it's very simple to customize)
Any interest : only to have hit ? ... LOL
A simple question, because I'm curious : why use very weird browsers which can never be known ?
There is idea good layout, but colors are maybe "too flashy" (dark and very bright color in same time)
Good seen the dhtml menu
I like a lot of present articles (creating template, for example)
but PLEASE, change color, my eyes with 30 sec of reading are crying !
From me : any js error ... or something like that : all is ok (css, menu, admin, layers created inside the code), but when clicked, any layer appears.
I have tested again, point per point, it doesn't work I'm damned.
Where is the interested to surf with Netscape 7 when Firefox exists ?
I search EXACTLY the same thing
I know but there is a plugin for FF (it's a bug of FF about scroll) calling Smooth Wheel
Nephets,
There's two arrows in the Newest Posts section:
<div class="sidebar"> <dl class="sidebardl"> <dt>Newest Posts</dt> <dd><li><a href="index.php?itemid=23">SCTech Episode 8</a> (by Nephets) </li> <li><a href="index.php?itemid=22">SCTech Episode 7</a> (by Nephets) </li> <li><a href="index.php?itemid=21">SCTech "Social" Episode 1</a> (by Nephets) </li> <li><a href="index.php?itemid=20">SCTech Episode 6</a> (by Nephets) </li> </dd> </dl> </div>
That's cause the <dd> and <li> both have background: url(images/arrow.gif) left center no-repeat; in the CSS.
this code is not correct
there is no UL tag ... when you use DL DT DD, you don't need to put LI inside ...
No no It works on FF ... but not all configurations (a weird thing ... and the problem is PunBB because I have no problem with Nucleus, or my own pages ...) > http://www.sortons.net/cinema/ http://www.sortons.net/nucleus/
I have realized the same thing
http://www.sortons.net/forum/
It works very well under IE,
there is a strange bug under FF (a large horizontal scroll .. x files)
About Opera ... I have forgotten this browser because I don't see the interest to have a browser which has 5 years in advance (CSS 3 power)
I agree with PM but a lot of discussions have been done about this
I have looked Vanilla Forum. Don't like it : tableless doesn't mean "poor visual"
But I'm OK with you !!!
But I think it's possible to simplify, that's all.
For example, I have rewritten CSS and some tags code of Nucleus : the stylesheet is now < 5 ko ! ... I have integrated the CSS nucleus inside my general CSS ... I know it's not possible with Pun ... but I think it's possible to have 10 ko ...
It's like Javascript / DHTML > before, to have a great tooltip (Overlib), your JS was 50 ko ... today other scripts (DOM power) do the SAME thing with 3 ko ... I believe about this
As you can see Paul, I have begun to work on tableless at http://www.sortons.net/dev/PunBB/test-punTableless.htm
Ok it's not perfect ... but it's the beginning : for a similar layout, look at the CSS ... I think the problem is table is too "long" to customize : the perfect example is "viewtopic" is very simple to customize, viewforum and index is a hell.
For me it's like Zaher.
PunBB doesn't crash your server
PhpBB does.
PunBB is too simple to customize
PhpBB you have only 100000000000000000000000 tpl files to edit.
PunBB is very reactive (you ask something, you have answer of your request)
phpBB : very important communauty, so ... a lot of newbies, so ... a lot of inutile posts.
PunBB has a clean code
PhpBB is a php gaz factory
PunBB loves me
I Love PunBB
Rickard is a cool guy
So ... PhpBB2.2 will be worst : PunBB 1.2.6 is 100 times better 1.1.5 ... Enjoy the 1.3
1. I'm OK with "it's cached once" ... but you see only the forum : but imagine you want to apply a design to a whole site
(http://www.sortons.net/nucleus/ vs http://www.sortons.net/forum) and you see a css app + a css app + a css app ... it's becoming grow ! I would like all my Style Sheets don't exceed 20ko ... and Pun = 14 ko ...
For php ... it's possible it creates "once" no ??? Php would be easier for colors, and change them (only the variables to change, and not whole css to update)
I'm blind > Thanx
This post is adressed to Paul in particular, but all designers too.
"Tables" system are very "loud" to customize. I know you are against float blocks but it's incredible. The Stylesheet is > 15/16 ko ! Only for One forum !
So I know you have rewritten once the CSS (in better), but I would like to know if it's possible to discuss to find the possibility to have "light" CSS in the future. And why not, playing width DD and display-inline to change the TABLE format.
Or ... another solution : integrate php inside CSS to enter all color schemes in variables
$color1 = #fff;
$color2 = #000; ...
Thanx ! works like a charm
Another question (I begin ...) where include " AND punBB_topics.closed = 0 " inside extern.php ?
The problem is I put closed=1 ou closed=0, I have the same results ...
The results I want is "I want only the "open posts" ... in this case, even if I put a limit of 10 posts, I would like only to have the 2 actuals posts "non closed".
