So, if I still receive an error when Base URL is the same as the URL I enter to administer the forum, what would be the next thing to investigate?

I'm getting the Bad HTTP_REFERER error when trying to administer my installation from the outside world. . I'm thinking it _may_ be related to the fact that I'm using a non-standard port (8889) for my server. I've had no trouble with this configuration for the past 2 years or so, but recently upgraded to 1.2.11 and this is about the time the problem started occurring.
Can anyone suggest a course of action? Thank you!
EDIT:
To be more clear, I'm running the installation on a server with an internal IP address in the 192.168.x.x space. The server listens on port 80. My firewall performs NAT and forwards requests to port 8889 to port 80 of the internal machine. So, from the outside world, the URL looks like: http://x.x.x.x:8889/forum. This is what I have (and have had) set as the Base URL.

Is HTML no longer allowed in posts? I upgraded from 1.0.1 to 1.2.5 and find that HTML doesn't render. I tried looking in Options to set the "enable HTML" flag but couldn't find the option. Any help appreciated.

I haven't run the script yet - but did back up the database using mysqldump. Once I get home from work I'll run the script, pray a bit, and then see what happens. Actually, I might pray first.

For the sake of clarity, I should download 1.1.1.zip then 1.2.1.zip, and finally 1.2.5.zip from the museum - correct? I ask because there are some minor revisions such as 1.1.2 in the tree as well.

Thanks for the tip. I checked the config.php file and found that $p_connect was indeed set to TRUE. Since my forum is seldom used I can only conclude that connections coming from the forum aren't disposed of once the initial communication takes place.
I wonder if there is some way in MySQL administration to flush open connections. Perhaps this is the avenue I'll go down.
