Many thanks for that - that plugin did exactly what I needed, and was very quick too :-)

Thanks, I'll try that. If it takes a long time, it might be a while before I get the chance to run it, though.

Topic: Forum Topics count wrong (4 replies, posted in PunBB 1.2 troubleshooting)
A while ago, I moved a lot of posts to a new forum by manually editing the database. I then removed the forums that these posts were in, again by manually editing the database.
Some time later, I put PunBB into maintenance mode and ran the "Rebuild search index" script.
However the new forum still shows zero topics and zero posts, even though there are topics with replies.
Can anyone suggest a way to fix this?

Re: Problem quoting text with Firefox (4 replies, posted in PunBB 1.2 troubleshooting)
The problem is now fixed, so, to help anyone else that finds this thread while looking for a solution to a similar problem:
It worked fine in Internet Explorer
Clearing Firefox's cache fixed the problem. She didn't get as far as clearing cookies.
Many thanks to Bassguy & Paul for the help.

Re: Problem quoting text with Firefox (4 replies, posted in PunBB 1.2 troubleshooting)
In response to Bassguy's questions:
1. I've had no problems, and no-one else has complained
2. Not really - it's a private forum, and only members are allowed to view/post, membership is limited to specific people. Sorry, I know this sounds like I'm being a jobsworth, but we have our reasons
3. As far as I know, she hasn't tried that. I'll tell her to try it
Paul:
I don't think she's tried IE, but I've asked her to try it in IE
Thanks for the help, guys.

Topic: Problem quoting text with Firefox (4 replies, posted in PunBB 1.2 troubleshooting)
One of my users has a rather odd problem. Her first report of problems was as follows:
Last night and tonight I've noticed a slightly peculiar and rather annoying problem with these boards (which problem I did not have previously, and cannot account for with regard to my own computer set-up, as I haven't made any changes to it recently that I can think of).
I can post quite happily as a "new" post, but when I try to reply to a specific post, using the "Quote" button, it doesn't work. I get the box with the quoted text up, all right, and I type my reply, but when I hit "Submit", it just sits there failing to load the new page. But if I remove the quoted text and paraphrase what the other person said, it works.
(If it helps, I'm using a Dell Latitude laptop with a Pentium III processor, Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2 and Mozilla Firefox 1.0.4.)
My first reaction was "upgrade Firefox", since 1.0.4 had security-related bugs, if for no other reason. However, she did that, and still has the same problem:
Okay, I have upgraded and tried to post this using the "Quote" button.
It didn't work. It displayed exactly the same behaviour as before - the little box where it shows the progress of the page loading remained obstinately blank. Neither opening a new tab nor closing and restarting Firefox had any effect.
(Incidentally, it's not - or not only - the quote tags; removing those and enclosing the quoted text in inverted commas was another thing I tried and found to not work.)
Does anybody have any idea what the problem could be? I use Firefox 1.0.7 on Ubuntu at home, and I used to use Firefox 1.5 on WinXP at work (until my boss told me to remove it) and now I use IE 6. I've never seen this problem, and don't really know where to start.
Any ideas will be gratefully received.

Re: Sub-domains and logins (13 replies, posted in PunBB 1.2 troubleshooting)
If i visit the page (with IE 6.0 sp1, win98) the page is blank, but when i view the source, it's al there :S
Thanks for pointing that out - I'd forgotten to close the <title> tag I'd checked it in Firefox, but I don't use IE, and only had access to it at work. It's fixed now.

Re: Sub-domains and logins (13 replies, posted in PunBB 1.2 troubleshooting)
Clear your cookies, then try with .domain.com
If it helps, I wrote a web page to help my users clear their cookies. It makes reference to the Lions Forum (my punBB install), but if you ignore that the instructions should work. It's at:

Re: Sub-domains and logins (13 replies, posted in PunBB 1.2 troubleshooting)
Actually, try this
$cookie_domain = '.celestialknights.org.uk';
I've just tried that, and it seems to be working fine.
Many thanks

I like SciTE. It's not as lightweight as Notepad2, but I think it's an excellent editor:

Topic: Sub-domains and logins (13 replies, posted in PunBB 1.2 troubleshooting)
I have a private forum at http://www.celestialknights.org.uk, which is also accessible from http://celestialknights.org.uk
I've just noticed a problem - if someone posts a link to a forum post using the www sub-domain, then someone browsing at http://celestialknights.org.uk has to login if they follow the link.
Is there any way to make the login work on the main domain and the sub-domain? If not, is it possible to make Apache redirect all requests to http://celestialknights.org.uk to http://www.celestialknights.org.uk?
