Yeah, but due to the hosting I'm with I can't install the mod unfortunately sad Thanks for the link anyway!

I dunno, I think we almost definately have to change hosts (cannot thank Connor enough for setting everything up for us and hosting the site for us for what was only a fairly small donation) so was considering changing forum software too while I was at it due to ... I dunno, fresh start and all that smile

Hmm, the fact that punBB doesn't show whether or not a topic has been read alone has turned away a few of our most common posters sad

I decided to give punBB a try after a friend's recommendation and for the most part was completely impressed, however, a few months down the line I still have a few niggles with the software myself, and we've lost quite a few regular posters as a result of this, so I've decided that, unfortunately, it's time for some pretty drastic action sad

I'm thinking of converting to Vanilla, is there anyway of transferring the punBB database into the new forum software?

Just a quick thank you to Rickard and everyone else involved (ConnorHD in particular, he's a bloody star) in the punBB project, you've got a great thing going here, unfortunately though it's just not quite suited to us ;(

Also, a few people have mentioned the fact that the board doesn't open external links in new windows, any way to sort that, other than telling them to use Firefox or hold shift everytime they click it.

Thanks

Fantastic, thanks guys :-)

Cornflower's a lovely theme btw, who made it? It's very similar to the default one (which is also very nice) but a little softer on the old eyes.

Lovely lovely lovely :-)

Hmm, I assume it's this bit:

/* 8.3 Extra top spacing for signatures and edited by */

DIV.postsignature, DIV.postmsg P.postedit {PADDING-TOP: 15px}

? But that looks fine to me, CSS wise :-(

Edit: Sorry, I meant the 60 second break between posting :-)

Also, can't find the option to change the time interval between posts, gahhh.

Sorry :-)

D'oh!

/slaps self

Sorry about that, it seems only my profile was affected, sorted now anyways.

Any idea regarding the signature line? I notice these forums have one so I think it's specific to the gu one.

Yup, all of the posters seem to have that.

Still not managed to sort the signature problem, but one other has arrived. For some reason, the forum won't let me post images, they just show up as <image>

/hugs Conner yet again

Thank you good sir :-)

Hi there, I'd like to have a logo at the top of my page @ http://gu.mypunbb.com/index.php

I've uploaded the logo to www.thebelfryhotel.co.uk/img/g.jpg but I'm not sure how to make it onto the board since it says the top logo doesn't support HTML.

Any advice very greatful, thanks.

EDIT: Is there anyway to place a line between the signature and the main post please? At the moment it merges into one and makes some posts a little confusing, using this thread as an example.

D'oh, sorry. Just got called a 'noob' by my girlfriend, of all people, for that big_smile Hehe.

Fantastic to hear that, thanks Rickard! ;-)

Only just found out about this forum script today, set it all up and absoluely love it, but this is the one thing I've got problems with, and lots of others do too, one person even saying "I just clicked on the same post four times accidently" becuase they thought it had a new post, heh. Doesn't say a lot for the intelligence of our forum users, but hey, what ya gonna do? ;-)

Cheers again, fantastic software!

!

I'll be on IRC as soon as I get home :-)

Absolutely fantastic, thanks Connor :-)

Just need to sort the hosting out now, I may stick with the one we're on at the moment (arhy.org) but it's a bit of a pain since I feel cheeky asking Alex to continue hosting the site for us, especially since we keep taking the server down through heavy load, heh.

Shame there's no way to upload the database/themes to mypunbb!

/goes on a hunt for the cheapest hosting possible

Absolute star, thank you!

Hehe, the test forum is actually hosted by Mypunbb! ;-) I would of used it as the main one, but it doesn't have FTP access so I can't install my own themes or have any chance at all of uploading my own database!

Also, according to this page, it would seem there is a convertor, but the link was removed, lol!

First of all I'd like to say what a fantastic job everyone here seems to be doing, absolutely loving the layout and features of the forums too! ;-)

Right, this could be a little complicated, so I'll explain it in the most basic manner possible.

I want all of all of the content from this site, all of the plugins and features from a test forum I created (private messaging, topic subscriptions, easy punbb code etc) and one of these styles - 1 . 2

I've read up on the styles and it seems simple enough, I shouldn't have a problem installing those, but even after reading the forums I still have no idea if there's a way to convert the current database, and I also have not much idea regarding the easiest way to install the mods.

Any advice much appreciated, thank you :-)
