Thanks man!! I have 3 emails into their different names already but they say it could take up to 7 days to respond. Really Id just like to block pipx.com since he is the only one that uses it. Ive had to make a new default group that doesnt have posting power  so I can check the IPs first before I switch the groups but that takes up my time and sucks for new posters that are good guys.


Wonder if there is a way to use wild cards in the IP ban to eliminate pipex.com?

I would like to know how to ban a host name also. I have one user that is from the UK and he has created over 40 accounts just to harass me and my users. I need to ban the whole ISP not just the ip or part of the IP. He gets a new IP in everyfew minutes byreconnecting. sometimes its 70.xxx sometimes 85.xxx or 81.xxx I cant IP ban him.

The IP address is: 85.210.63.255
The host name is: 85-210-63-255.dsl.pipex.com



how can I ban anyone using pipex.com?

This guy is in the UK and Im in the US. He is on dsl and can reconnect to get a new IP so bans arent working. He just gets a new email and registers again. Over 40 times so far.


The IP address is: 85.210.63.255
The host name is: 85-210-63-255.dsl.pipex.com



Is there a way to block that carrier and  not just the IP? any other suggestions? I have no other users from overseas so I can block the whole thing but Id like to block just the carrier pipex.com

There is no way to set it under personality. All it shows is avatar and signature. Does it disappear if you use ranks?

where in index anyone know?


So gzip well help with the speed? I have a minimal board, I removed all the icons, no attachments, etc. Just want it as fast as possible

Oh and can someone give me the quick version of gzip? Should I turn it on? will it make a difference? Its compression for the webpages that works in firefox and IE?

My forum is now going pretty good, 50-60 posters on all day long but now it seems to take a bit longer to post/refresh etc. before I go crazy paying for a separate server etc can any of you give a noob admin some tips on how to speed up the site? like general stuff? will pruning the topics/posts matter? I saw you can redo the search index but it may crashe etc does that do much for speed? Ive deleted a lot of posts. What about avatars? they are saved right? can I clear all those out? any speed tips appreciated.



Is there a way to give a user his own title? I have all the other stuff turned off (date registered, post count etc) and I have ranks enabled so everyone gets a rank but Id like to give a few people their own title for helping me out without it getting out of hand making new "groups"



I turned off the view for guests for all boards so now a guest just sees who is online (for speed) but there is a box that says  "board empty" is there a way to change the text or delete the box?

Ive searched and the only thing I saw was to make silent edit the default. Is it possible to make silent edit on for users? or is there a switch Im not seeing? right now admin has a box and users dont.

Ok I found under the mod release thread where it says that moderatepoll should be included. I installed and looked but I only find it one time. I changed it. That did not fix it. The problem is I am getting errors when I click delete polls or REGULAR POSTS. So something has changed somewhere that doesnt effect just the poll mod. Can someone help me find what is causing this error? Thanks!

umm there is a moderate_poll.php in the install folder but it does not say to upload it in the readme.txt so I dont have it installed. Should it be there?

I dont know where I call parser. I just copied and pasted everything from the readme.txt in the poll mod. I used find on that .txt to look for parser.php and its not on there so I have no clue where to look.

Also when I create a poll it also makes you fill out a normal post so it takes up 2 lines. Is this normal? So in the forum it says:

poll: who is so and so
(topic)answer a question about who is so and so
