Thank you. I have both of those enabled. The error message asking me to manually upgrade, has disappeared, though I didn't do anything except contact this forum. 
That only leaves 1 and 3! Address those and I will be a happy camper!

This may be a remedial question. When I first installed punBB 1.4.4 I downloaded all of the official extensions and successfully installed them. I see a whole lot more listed on this Forum under PunBB 1.4 > Supported Extensions. Some of them may be what I need to solve the problems I am experiencing with punBB (see my other post under PunBB 1.4 Troubleshooting > Problems with punBB).
The problem is I can't remember how I installed the extensions a year or more ago. Can anyone please provide me with step-by-step instructions for installing extensions?

As administrator/owner of www.darkroomcookbook.com I am experiencing the following problems with punBB 1.4.4. If anyone can tell me how to fix any or all of these issues I would appreciate it.
1. punBB does not allow for mass emails to all users to inform them of anything important, such as updates to the site. This includes sending an email to the foroum moderators. I have to send one at a time.
2. When someone sends a private message (PM) it does not notify the recipient.
3. When someone posts to a topic it does not inform the topic moderators. This is important because unless the moderators are notified they don’t bother to check the site, and the site becomes filled with unanswered topics. It doesn’t even notify me, the administrator - unless I specifically ask for notifications to each topic as they are posted. I have to login every day to see if there are new posts and I don’t always get around to it.
The inability to inform users, moderators, and administrators inhibits the so important exchange of information on this forum.

This is exacly, what I have corrected. If you want to use php >= 5.5, you have to:
1. Download branch 1.4-next
Now, Can you help with three more problems? I have 1.4.4 running. The edit toolbar is missing from Write Messages and Quick Response, my users are not able to post photos (this is a photography forum so this is serious :-)), and I cannot send a global email to all users.
If you have a patch/fix for any of these three I would be eternally in your debt. I would even buy you a coffee the next time you are in Monmouth, Oregon.

Thank you for the links. Unfortunately, I am not computer literate. The "extension" that you pointed to makes no sense to me at all. According to your other response suggesting I use 1.4.3 I may have made a mistake using punBB. As a developer do you know if there are any plans to fix the bugs in 1.4.4 or should I switch to another forum before this goes further?

Greetings, again, Paul. We may be getting close to the problem - if not the solution. Not only are editing tools not appearing on the Write message and Quick response boxes, but under Admin>Management the only options I have are:
Start Settings Users Management Extensions
Reports Prune topics Rebuild index Maintenance mode
I upgraded from 1.4.2 to 1.4.4 using FileZilla FTP. Could a file have gotten lost or corrupted? Would you know which file could be missing?

Thank you, Paul. I see you are very active helping people on this forum. The first thing I did was enable the Quick post feature and the tools do not appear there either. In fact, I just checked the site to make certain it wasn't there and it isn't. Any other suggestions?

I am confused as to how to upload images. The instructions from punBB say to use the following string of code in the message:
img=PunBB bbcode test]http://darkroomcookbook.com/img/test.png[/img
I assume that the image should replace test.png, but I do not see any way to upload or access the image.
Note: I removed [ ] from either end of the code so it would not convert in this message.

I see this post was made in January 2015. I just created a forum using punBB and am having the same deprecated problem. Has anyone found a solution? I don't have a clue what Moderator Visman is talking about. Is this forum really this messed up?
