As far as Google goes, use http://www.google.com/linux for your searching needs.

As far as free goes... have you tried OOo? [ http://www.openoffice.org ]

have you tried http://www.punres.org ?

it's worth a shot if you haven't. there's a wide range of projects.

Nifty idea if I don't say so myself.

I'm not sure that we want people to report 1.3 bugs yet, however... could you give us some server details? most importantly what version of apache?

Apache 1.3.34 (Unix) & PHP 4.3.11

as for reporting 1.3 bugs, I was unsure of it but I figured I'd put it out there just encase.

I have PunBB 1.3 (SVN version 761) installed on my server for testing purposes; however it seems as though the .htaccess that is included for the 'pretty URL's' is having some issues on my server as when it is enabled I get an internal server error when trying to access the PunBB directive.

Has anyone else had any issues with this?

I use the rewrite engine myself, and haven't experienced such issues so I'm clueless as far as to why it's freaking out.

When I first discovered PunBB I was very impressed but disappointed to see a lack of built in PM system.

If you're still interested in the PM system, you can check out this mod -- http://www.punres.org/desc.php?pid=52

I must say that I am very pleased with the upcoming version of PunBB. I hadn't actually seen it until now, because I haven't had the time to download/install it for testing personally. I'm going to download the latest SVN, and play with it.

I'm anticipating the new release even more now, great job PunBB Team!

Downloaded 2.0, installed over the old 1.5.* like you did before they got the update function to work. No problems, worked just like a regular update.

Yeah, it shouldn't have issues updating. I install RC's all the time... and then from there officials, and have never had any issues. I always make backups to be sure though.

I've tried "Check for upgrades..." in FF1.5, but still nothing.

It more than likely wont be 'live' on the update system for some days.

"IntensePlanet Warez" ... hmm.

Also, instead of constantly making new replies to mention 'updates', and such, why not use the edit button? it keeps things a bit more 'tidy' if you will.

It's a pain. I've checked my menu.lst, but everything is setup perfect.

It appears to be a common issue though I've been unable to find any work arounds. I currently have 2 IDE drives, and 1 SATA; the master IDE has XP, the slave IDE has Ubuntu and the SATA is used for storage. I've read some articles that it might be the SATA drive throwing it off, however it was never a problem with Lilo (when using SuSE) so I don't know. I guess for now if I decide to keep Ubuntu installed I'll just have to keep booting with the installation disc.

This is usually why I don't keep it long, because I dual boot and it gets annoying after a while.

However I love Ubuntu and ever since the start it has been great. It's growing fast, and quite swell with every update. :]

I still get the dreaded Grub error 17 on boot unless I have my ubuntu disc in my drive and boot to the first hard disk menu; then Grub boots fine. Apparently it's pretty common. I never had the error with SuSE however, if I recall [correctly] SuSE uses Lilo?

Oh, no, I meant documents that I create in 'Writer' > PDF.

I'm still anticipating(!) the final release of 2.0.4. :]

<3 OOo. I also like the fact that I can export documents to the PDF format, for example.

So when is 1.3 coming out? smile

Also, will it work better with IE 7?  PunBB is usable in IE7 right now, but it's not all that pretty...

IE 7 isn't official and theres a _small_ amount of users who actually use it as their default browser.

It would (IMO) be better to just wait for the final product since it's still work-in-progress and a lot of stuff can be changed, and added (such as standards) which in theory would better render the content as-is without mods since IE 7 is _supposed_ to comply with the standards. You can do a bunch of CSS hacks to make things look pretty, but then the final product comes out and you don't need 90% of them ... if that even happens.

Theres my two cents. :]
