bingiman, surely using Paul's technique you only need 3 images, no?

I'm running MySQL 4.1.22-standard-log. So I don't mind if you drop 4.0 support. smile

I've often thought that allowing a selection of text sizes would work. The BBCode would be [size=24]text[/text]

Where only, say, 8, 16, 24 and 32 are permitted. But I guess if you're going to limit the allowed sizes then you might as well use <h4>, 5, etc.

All the ones that I've ever used seem to work just fine.

I believe they were debating the placement, i.e: src alt versus alt src.

Or more importantly the fact that the <img> tag should be self closing.

Well the main changes to the style - the navigation bar & header - weren't made by our stylist. They were hacked together be me and Utchin - and neither of us are particularly great at CSS. We just tried to get it looking something like what the end product will hopefully look like. The CSS and mark-up needs to be reworked by someone who knows what they're doing, namely Zimmer.

As for XHTML compliance, I haven't even checked to see how valid it is. Currently, we're more interested in getting the system fully functional. As soon as that's done, like you implied, we really need to get the site working properly across all browsers and sort out any accessibility problems.

In response to "What's so hard about developing a compliant and valid site ... ?": From my point of view, that's one of the more difficult things to do. Though I'm sure that others will disagree.

Thank you for your input.

Myself, Utchin, Zimmer and Entertayner have designed and are now in the process of creating this new website. When it's finished it will be an advanced clan directory. Users will have the ability to search for clans, contact clans and apply to join clans. Clan leaders will be able to advertise their clan and search for new members.

Once we've made the site incredibly complex, we aim to make it incredibly simple. People should be able to create clans, search for clans, register themselves, join clans, etc in as fewer steps as possible and in as shorter time as possible.

Additionally, players will be able to advertise themselves. The idea behind the extended profile system is that gamers will have somewhere to refer people to as a profile - the page will have links to and information about everything to do with that player.

We have many more features planned that are either currently not on the site at all or are in development.

Clearly, the site is nowhere near finished. But you should be able to get an overall impression of what we're aiming for.

We are aware that there are plenty of problems, such as the way the site looks for IE users, but we're betting there smile

I think you should change the navlinks so that the links are not underlined upon hover, only the bg should change.

Looks like a minor CSS problem. Post (or link to) your CSS code.

You have to chmod the cache directory to 777.

Try clearing your browser's cache. This will make it re-load the css from the website, rather than from your computer.

That line is a <hr>. It will always be there unless your CSS makes it invisible. If you show use your CSS code we can show you how to change it to make the line show up.

Puntal is a good CMS based on PunBB. (Integrated into, rather than based on.)

There's a Gallery Mod too: http://www.punres.org/desc.php?pid=70

If you don't want something quite as big as Puntal, you could go for MegaPun or Frontpage.

1. Me too
2. I've never really seen the point in those.
3. It will probably be an 'official' extension rather than a default feature.
4. Yeah, sounds good. More likely to be a plugin/extension.

Stickies have their own tr class "isticky"

From Style_cs.css:

/****************************************************************/
/* 5. POST STATUS INDICATORS */
/****************************************************************/

/* These are the post status indicators which appear at the left of some tables.
.inew = new posts, .iredirect = redirect forums, .iclosed = closed topics and
.isticky = sticky topics. The default is "icon". By default only .inew is different.*/
