Hi.I am unable to install PunBB on a CentOS linux server with PHP 5.2.5.

I am seeing this when I execute the "install.php" in the admin.

Fatal error: String functions are overloaded by mbstring in /home/MYDOMAIN/public_html/forum/include/utf8/utf8.php on line 42

I did some googling and found that this error is related to the "mbstring.func_overload = 7" setting in PHP.INI. We are running a multilingual website and wish to support utf8 completely, so that setting cannot be changed.

Does this mean we cannot install PunBB?

Thanks a bunch for this, but where does this code go? Is this the new login.php? Or where should I put it? I am trying to integrate the existing login of our site with punbb. Thanks!

Hi,

I'd like to do something similar. My question: I just want to change the script that recognizes users. Instead of using PunBB cookies, I want to check with my own login cookies, and if matched, perhaps automatically set the PunBB cookies. What programs should I edit to make this happen?

Thanks!

No, that could run out of control. I would like moderators or admins to be able to associate the same discussion with more than one forum.

A mod or plugin for this would be heavenly. We live in a world of 'tagging' where the concept of categories is fading. Tags are fantastic, because like GMail's labels, they allow a fluid category architecture. You have all content in one place, but you see it as Views. Is there anything like this for PunBB?

Thanks.

Under userlist, I do not see anything called administration.

What's even more intriguing, when I click on a user's name (and I am admin!), I see "You do not have permission to view these forums."

What gives?

I would like to be able to assign specific users to user groups. How should I do it? That is the question.

Thanks, that works. Now, as ADMIN, I would like to assign user groups to specific users. How can I do this? There doesn't seem to be any function to change a user's group? I tried searching for a user, but that gives me (an ADMIN user!) the message "You don't have permissions to see this forum". Any ideas why??!!

How can I disable userlist from showing up for guests?

Thanks. Where can I get 1.3? Or is this not available now?

Hello

I use eAccelerator on my PHP install, along with Zend Optimizer. Here's a section of my phpinfo() --

This program makes use of the Zend Scripting Language Engine:
Zend Engine v2.1.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2006 Zend Technologies
with eAccelerator v0.9.5-rc1, Copyright (c) 2004-2006 eAccelerator, by eAccelerator
with Zend Extension Manager v1.0.10, Copyright (c) 2003-2006, by Zend Technologies
with Zend Optimizer v3.0.1, Copyright (c) 1998-2006, by Zend Technologies

However, PunBB's Forum Admiistration Index page shows me the following --

Operating system: Linux
PHP: 5.1.6 - Show info
Accelerator: N/A

Any ideas what I am missing? How can I correct this -- is eAccelerator not working on my site, or is PunBB reporting wrongly?

Thanks.

Hello

Is there a way to post to a punbb forum by email? I observe that people still prefer their tried and tested comfort zones (email clients) so asking them   to adopt something totally new is inefficient.

Would be great if they could post to each other, but keep on cc something like bb-<FORUMNAME>@ourowndomain.com -- I am happy to create such email IDs.

Thanks for any thoughts.

Hello

1. Has anyone figured out a Lussumo Vanilla type skin for PunBB? I tried that software, and it looks very pleasant, but it is not as blazingly fast and full featured as PunBB.

2. Can someone write a 'LiveSearch' type feature for PunBB? It shows results as one types the keywords.

Thanks!
