Still present. Look's like the same as http://punbb.org/forums/viewtopic.php?id=5645

I got the same error when I tried to make an update on my local machine as a test run. In my config.php I had the wrong database and prefix because I tried PunBB 1.2 Beta some days ago. After I changed to the old 1.5 database and prefix the error was gone. Perhaps it was your database-connection too?

In my case the problem was/is a flaw at my provider's system. I only can update/backup/restore the db by the providers web-interface. If the action I choose is finised, I receive an e-mail. The content is like: no error or error. I got a no error but the db wasn't properly restored.

I would like to talk to one of you guys on IRC regarding this problem. Can you pop into #punbb on Quakenet?

Can't join you on IRC since I only have internet access over a restricted proxy. Tried to convince the other users of the concerned forum to give you access to the db, but they don't allow that.

Tried several scenarios so far:

fresh 1.1.5 = no problems
fresh 1.2 = no problems
convert 1.1.5 (~2mb uncompressed) = failed (see above)
convert 1.1.5 (fresh/empty) = failed (see above)

Are there any similarities with my 1.2-dev problem (http://punbb.org/forums/viewtopic.php?id=5181)?

The final 1.2 now works. Thx Rickard!

what version were y'all trying to upgrade from?

1.1.5

Since the first error is gone (not sure why), I got following:

PunBB Update
This script will update your current PunBB 1.1.5 forum database to PunBB 1.2. The update procedure might take anything from a second to a few minutes depending on the speed of the server and the size of the forum database. Don't forget to make a backup of the database before continuing.
Did you read the update instructions in the documentation? If not, start there.
Start upgrade

After pressing "Start upgrade"

Neat! Hope 1.2 final will run here.

Tried converting a 1.1.5 db with the script included, same problem. sad

The provider has no hunch either. Not sure he is trying. Found in his forum one thread with the same error message (CMS), but no solution was found.

Thx Connorhd & Rickard for there help!

I get each time a #1044 - Access denied for user: 'xxx@localhost' to database 'xxx'
Seems I have to write the provider a nice e-mail.

maybe you could try running the indexes separatly too see if its just one of them

I do not have a shell account on this box. Only phpMyAdmin. Furter is my db knowledge greatly limited. Maybe these screenshots are helping:

<removed>

Tried the beta and as you promissed there is additional info now.

Choosing MySQL 3.2.*,4.0.*

An error occured on line 1240 in file /xxx.xxx.org/forum2/install.php.

PunBB reported: Unable to create indexes. Please check your configuration and try again.

Database reported: Access denied for user: 'xxx@localhost' to database 'xxx' (Errno: 1044)

Last is confusing since the tables getting created.

Again, PunBB 1.1.5 is running perfect on that box.

Always hate it when I'm the only one with a weird problem. :-) Thx!

Yes. The script created 17 tables in the db (1.1.5 did 15 tables). Tried with and without prefix. Installed a PunBB 1.1.5 and a phpBB 2.0.11 from scratch for testing = no problems at all (install and use). My main PunBB forum is running on the same maschine for month now.

Felt lucky today but the dev won't work here (apache 1.3.x - mysql 4.0.18):

install.php

An error was encountered
Unable to create indexes. Please check your configuration and try again.

A 1.1.5 works perfect on the same box so I assume it't a dev only problem. Any clue?

Didn't find anything here, or overlooked it. If this is the case: link please and sorry.

Simple wanna add: Now we have 3 PunBB's running. Some weeks of using and no problems at all. Simple and very usefull!
I know, give a developer too much credit and he become overbearing. But I must thank you (Rickard) again. :^)
