Topic: Saved Searches

Hi,

I use part of my forum as a collection of news item links.  I would like to be able to perfom a search and "save" the link so that I can post it elsewhere on my site, thus saving my visitors the time and effort.  (Whilst it is not exactly hard to perform a search, we all know how much better it is if things are made as simple as possible for our users!).

I performed a search here on the forums and found one possible solution (http://punbb.org/forums/viewtopic.php?id=5488).  Towards the end of the thread is a suggestion:
"First solution: making the keyword of the search part of the URL, thus searching for punBB in all forums would result in /forum/search/punBB, in this forum would be /forum/troubleshooting/search/punBB etc."

I tested this on my forum but it didn't work.  I was wondering whether this was connected with my Wordpress installation and the way it uses permalinks.

Does this solution work for other people?
Are there any other solutions or suggestions?

TIA
Phillip

Re: Saved Searches

You can certainly get a URL that works for the search you want
ie: searching all forums for posts by me
http://punbb.org/forums/search.php?acti … rch=Submit

However, you either have to manually construct it or you have to watch the HTTP traffic and grab that URL smile

Re: Saved Searches

Thank you Sir, that solution works for me.
