extra profile fields - tick boxes

Hello,

Ive come across a few posts about adding new profile fields to peoples profiles and then having them displayed next to each others posts (such as the male/female option). But theyre not the same as what im after. Ive experimented a little but not been able to do it at all, and im hoping someone could point me in the right direction or give me some advice.

Basically i want to have an area where people have the choice to tick 4 boxes, they could be called option 1, 2, 3, 4. But i want it to make it possible so they can tick more than 1 box and then for it to display beside their post with something like "Options Selected: 1,2" (or whatever numbers theyve ticked).

Can anyone help at all??
