Topic: Can PunBB be used with SSL?

Hey everyone,

I did a search that didn't come up with anything on using PunBB with SSL. I have a dedicated SSL certificate for one of my domains. Basically, I'd like to use PunBB up as a 'support forum' for an online shop that I'm trying to set up.

I'm just curious if it's possible to set PunBB to use with SSL? If so, is it a matter of setting an option in the configuration, or would it entail changing a lot more?

Actually, I have never tried running PunBB under SSL, so I can't say how well it functions under those circumstances. If you do run into problems, they should be faily simple to work around.

As https (SSL) is nothing more than the secure protocol version of http you don't have to expect to much trouble. In fact it is nothing more then setting the correct options in your httpd.conf to enable this.

You can make everthing ssl without much problems. But be aware of the fact that enabling something like a forum to run on ssl your server will gain more stress.

Is it realy necessary to encrypt the traffic to your forum. ???

How can I enable https for my punbb forums? You said I have to edit my httpd.conf but I have no access to it since I am not root, I use a web hosting company.
