ALSO make sure that when you create the file in say notepad that it isn't being created as a text file. ie: save as "all files *.*" and not "txt file" and that you have .php at the end. i know it sounds like a bonehead move but worse has happened.

i'm gonna go out on a limb and say because they are TOO mainstream/cliche. 
so when is gmail going "public"? by public i mean truely open without the need for an invite.
since i was FINALLY able to install the extension for firefox, gmail keeps getting better and better.

a Tom Clancy game fan site. i admin there and have been a part of the community since 01/24/2002 .
cool... i forgot about hotscripts also. while browsing hotscripts i have come to the realization that asp devolpment for the purpose of a cms is not as prevelant as php/sql is. i have also noticed that there are more PAY-for-use(ie: licensed) webware out there than opensource/freeware. no thanks, i'll stick with php/sql since i've gotten used to it already.

which is better? faster? pros and cons of each.
i'm considering Limbo for my production site and it has the option of either flat file or database and i was wondering which is better and/or faster or more secure.
are there any opensource .asp based CMSs out there? if so is there a site like opensourcecms.com that has demos or reviews of them?

@GUI: just so you know(and you probably do) the link on your front page to the forums still says phpbb2 but redirects to your pun forum.

i use these for my php and mysql... not much but better than the gahdy ones.
if anyone has any better 80x15 ones i'd be grateful.

i agree, the standard ones are fugly, the new ones are cool.
hmmmm....? 
are you using firefox? if so make sure you don't have the box checked next to "for originating website only" under "load images" in the "web features" options tab. if this isn't it then all i can say is it works for me.
http://www.webhostingtalk.com should answer any questions you may have regarding webhosting. do a search for any of the hosts you are thinking of going with and see the reviews/opinions of some of the past/present customers.
no wonder software/webware takes so long to build, it's all the counting of lines.
