I was looking at slogans for inspiration: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ad … ng_slogans

This popped into my head "It takes a Digging and keeps on ticking."

Where did this pay version of PunBB notion come up?

PunBB is GPL code, it's free and always will be, I've never heard anything to the contrary.

There is an asp written version of a forum that looks a lot like PunBB that we came across a little while back, I just can't remember the url.

Bert - I assume you are talking about TYPO3 and not typo, the blogging engine.

Yes, I was talking about TYPO3, but you're right, no affiliation.

It's getting harder to keep track of the players these days, with so many CMS's being introduced.

Komodo has been my preferred PHP IDE for more than a year. Besides all it's nice features, I like the fact that I can run it on both my Windows laptop and Linux workstation. Komodo is Mozilla based, so 4.0 introduces extensions, just like Firefox. It's also extensible for adding your own syntax highlighting and code intelligence for your projects.

Jeff of Komodo just released code intelligence files for PunBB 1.2.14, so you can hack away and have PunBB's built in functions at your fingertips. The cix files should also work with the free Komodo Edit 4.0, just haven't had a chance to try it there yet.

Been there, held their hands.

What you think about is the things you didn't do or get to accomplish in your short time on Earth.

In the xampp folder is an executable called xampp-control.exe.

Double click it, start Apache then start MySQL.

Can the software be run and tested from a home pc ?

Use something like XAMPP, the Lite version is all you need to test out PunBB.

Try this: http://www.punres.org/viewtopic.php?id=1850 - it's what I'm using on one of my forums.

Hey, it came out nice!

The only thing out of place are the porn ads, but I guess no other advertiser would allow ads on a Sexual site?

I am building a sensuality website (it has softcore content) that would like to have a discussion forum around this topic.

Oooh, Debbie does Pun, Deep Pun or my favorite La Dolce Pun wink

emergent, TYPO is the grandaddy of CMS systems, their light version is an answer to user's complaints that it was too huge and difficult to deal with.

quaker, luka makes designs in the same spirit as sNews, light and fast.

PunBB then becomes the core of the entire site.

Yes, I'm in line with this thinking.

Artificial Intelligence, I was playing with that theme last week, I really liked the look.

One problem with it is that if you increase the fonts, the layout breaks big time. I contacted Luka on his site about it but never heard anything back, I hate it when people ignore a message sent. I mean if you're so busy that you can't return a call, then don't have an answering machine.

As for cost, you could contact one of the PunBB developers, see if they have the time.

Well it uses Magpie to pull the feeds but you could use SimplePie which is more up to date on the current standards and easier to use in my opinion.

There are countries moving away from commercialism, because in all honesty, we can't all have a big house and 2.5 cars in the driveway, the planet doesn't have the resources. It's funny how the U.S. wants capitalism to catch on world wide but imagine if all the Chinese wanted a Wii tomorrow, impossible to fill the order.

We plugged the holes in the basement and have installed a battery backup that beeps if the server dies.

When I chose PunBB over anything else, and I've tried just about everything, it was for it's lightness.

I've seen too many forums get popular and their hosting accounts can't keep up, then it's the VPS or dedicated route for them. For PunBB, this is less of an issue than the other more feature rich forums.

An example of this is at the MozillaZine forums, their install of phpBB had issues keeping up with the flow of users. In the end, they turned off every feature they could and tweaked some things to get it to respond at an acceptable speed and not bring down their server. Heck, it now looks like a PunBB forum with a phpBB skin.
