I explored this a while back when I was helping out as an admin on OSCMS, I thought of doing the same thing so that the demos wouldn't have to be refreshed every couple of hours.

I never found a solution but it would indeed open up some great possibilities for the demoing of web apps.

colak, I think the rss.php script would be a better fit for SimplePie:

Can you imagine what the rest of the industry sounds like without the help of electronics?

Good luck with it, hope it goes well.

Is this is seperate install per user?

george,

Interest comes from someone who wants to scratch a similar itch. Max wrote the script from a suggestion I made on the DokuWiki dev list, this was so we could tie the mailing list to the forum. The mod was made but Andi didn't implement it right away, then he later decided to run another forum software.

I would name the project, add it to sourceforge, freshmeat, etc. and then see who joins in.

I running PunBB 1.2.12 on PHP 5.1.4 on a local server, no problems.

Max Khitrov wrote a mailing list bridge for PunBB, worth a look?

The Apache 2.x msi installer is very simple, as is the MySQL one. PHP is the only install that you would have to go through the readme to understand.

Alan,

See if this would work: http://punbb.org/forums/viewtopic.php?id=6586

This site is getting hammered today, it's featured on a number of online sites.

Running your own DNS server can be daunting, why not go with: http://www.everydns.net/ ?

I like the clean look of the forum, nicely done.

The Ajax script, is it random or is it based on the latest posts?

But you say NO ONE is allowed (officially, since any one can copy the file contents of the SVN repo one by one) to  perform testing on the latest versions?

Grab a copy of TortoiseSVN and point it to: http://punbb.org/svn/punbb/branches/punbb-1.3-dev

Have fun, see what's going on with 1.3 but please don't post any issues to this forum. When Rickard is ready to put a public beta, then we can all join in the bug hunt.

Wow, that's a sad site to behold.

I want to have a list of recent posts on the frontpage of our site (running joomla)

Look at the extern.php file shipped with PunBB, it has instructions at the top of it.

I don't know what happened to the projects working with Mambo or Joomla, there were a few people working on this.

quaker,

Have you tried asking over at the sNews forum?

Also, be more specific as to what you'd like to see happen between the applications.

Thanks for packaging this up, there's been a lot of interest from the community for something like this lately.

Yes, I'd be also interested in your travels on how you arrived at PunBB and why.

Blog:CMS uses Nucleus CMS as it's basis, with PunBB, singapore and DokuWiki thrown in.

Radek started the Nucleus to PunBB plugin, Rickard and I later picked it up and added some more functionality to it.

The Nucleus plugin feeds front end posts to the forum so that commenting can occur there. If you follow the hcgtv link in my sig, you'll see an example of it.

Also hcgtv, I read the disclaimer on the amazingcounters site and I dont see anything about them putting me on mailing lists, and all that stuff.

My encounter with Columbia House was in the early 1980's, I still hold a grudge wink

A long time ago I joined to the Columbia House record club.

You remember those ads that you got like 9 albums for a penny, and then just had to buy another 9 to fulfill your commitment. Then after that, for every album you bought you'd get one free, the icing on the cake.

Somehow, I must of not read the fine print, cause after I reached my commitment, I kept sending back the monthly cards stating I wasn't interested in anything they had that month. I did this for a few months until the cards stopped coming in the mail. I called them up and found out that you had to buy something every so often or they dropped you from the club.

To make a long story short, they screwed me, big time, I'll never forget that.
