Yes; it's my server. It's a G3 box with OS X 10.3 Server that I'm looking at right now.

I can chmod the hell out of it if neccesary, but the database entries are done right there, right? So, creating a database would mean that I have the correct permissions..

I dunno. I guess I'm just used to it like that. Before my favorite forums went to PunBB, they used to use phpBB2.

In the latter, postcount was turned off under the avatar, but you could still see it in the profile.

And the show posts and multiply thing is a good workaround, but might not work so well in cases like these and these. I know my postcount is well above 3,500, maybe even 4,000 by now. Yet, PunBB shows it as 27 pages of 30, which is 810.

We did lose a year due to someone not backing up, or corrupt backups or something, and possibly had some problems with the migration from phpBB2 to PunBB, but it often helps to see a users postcount (often, not always) to see whether his opinion should hold any weight or be helpful.

Just a thought.

I second this idea. Although most users would probably find it annoying...

Updated the PBB Gallery to 1.2, used install_mod.php to create database, and still getting the:

ERROR : The server could not record the downloaded file. Contact the administrator email@address.com

error. sad

-Tim

By the way, I've been reading up a little on PHP and what could be wrong, and this is the server enviornment I'm running on:

Mac OS X 10.3.7 Server
PHP 4.3.10

Could it be that gd library is commented out in the httpd.conf or something? I know next to nothinga about this, and am just going off what I've read...

Thanks for help all,

-Tim

Ack, why are you up so early!? big_smile

I guess we wait until the author checks the thread, huh? As for me, I'm off to count sheep myself.

I never liked postcount whores, and post stuffing, but I think users should be able to see their postcount. It should be turned off when viewing threads, but show when viewing a user's stats.

As the admin of my forum, I always know, but I also use a few forums that I don't mod, and am still curious. Plus, I can't even see my own there, and am curious whether or not I broke 4k posts yet. smile

-Tim

Yay! That works.. now, I get the:

ERROR : The server could not record the downloaded file. Contact the administrator timothy@607design.com.

Go back

error.

like, double-u-tee-eff, mate?

-Tim

I started typing a response, but stopped and erased it. I didn't understand it at first, and still am not sure whether I do or not.

I need to edit the gallery.php file to lookup the users table, instead of the pun_users table, right? Since I installed PunBB with no prefixes, and this php file is trying to access a pun_ prefixed table?

I'm such a noob... tongue

-Tim

I just checked through phpMyAdmin, and I, in fact, do have a pun_gallery table in the mysql database. I can perform queries on it if need be.

-Tim

ERROR : The server could not record the downloaded file. Contact the administrator myemail@address.com.

Go back

Yea, the page comes up with the form, but when I try to upload a picture this comes up. I edited my email address for privacy's sake.

So... The gallery.php is obviously not the problem. I can't tell you much from this computer, Morgan Stanley has their systems locked down pretty tightly (no ftp or ssh or anything) but I left the database name pun_galery (it doesn't matter than my forums don't have any prefixes, right?) and the gallery.php at default.

However, I still get this error.

I'm going to try creating a new database and a new pun_gallery table, and referring to that, so I'll see what happens then. To tell the truth, I only found out about 1.1 about 15 minutes before I ran out the door for work, so I haven't had too much time to experiment on it. smile

Thanks for help so far.

-Tim

I am having a problem with this. I posted in the 1.0 thread, I didn't know that 1.1 had since come out.

I am getting this error, and don't know why. I've kept everything at default for now...

-Tim

I've gone throught he gallery.php file, and replaced all instances of pun_gallery (or punbb_gallery, because of the fix) with just gallery.

Now, I get this error:

 Error: DB gallery.

I would really love to use this mod, I've needed something like a gallery for a long time now. smile

-Tim

I have tried to install it as-is, and (after some tweaking) I still get this error:

Error: Unable to fetch gallery list count.

I have kept all the settings on default, and only changed the table name to not include the pun_ prefix. (My PunBB installation does not use the pun_ prefix either.)

What does this error mean? (Well, I know what it means, but what does it mean?

Thanks,

-Tim

Yes, that did it! Thanks a lot! smile

-Tim

I get this after recovering from a hacker break-in (or script-kiddie break in, as it were) and trying to remake some forums since I never back up... sad

What does this error mean? I tried to Search for it, alas, I got nothing.

Solvable? Fixable?

Thanks,

-Tim

How? I can only see how to back up a file, I don't see a way to upload the .sql file...

The thing is, I made the backups through your DB admin, not phpMyAdmin. I only got that installed and running today.. :x

-Tim

Two things:

First of all, I get

DB Management Error wrote:

No file was uploaed or the upload failed, the database was not restored

Secondy, it's misspelled.

Thanks,

-Tim

p.s. I realize now that I probably need to add more info. Running 1.2.4, made database backups about a month ago, they didn't work with the DB management plugin I had then, still don't work with the (as of today) current version.

My DB got attacked, and I hoped that I would be able to get it running again, but all three backups (made two weeks apart from each other) will not work, .txt and .gzip format alike.

Now, my next question: any way to un-delete tables and rows that have been deleted? Do they get flagged for deletion much like the bits on a harddrive, or is it a one-way process? I don't suppose there's a 'trash can' feature in phpMyAdmin? sad

The site in question is our guild, The Iron Curtain, for the World of Warcraft (played on the Shattered Hand server.) It's kind of a shame, since there are about 100 regular visitors to our site, and all this data seems to be lost.

Well, this is how it goes: I tried to Restore from File in the DB Management pane, and I keep getting errors. I have both .gzip compressed and .txt backup files, and those don't seem to work.

I've since updated to 1.2.4, so I hope the exploit the guy/girl was using is no longer there. I have a good idea of who it is, but for practical purposes, I'll let that idea stay in my head for now.

Anywho, I'll keep tinkering with it. The worst news (for me) is that I found out that the nightly backups never occured, and the last manual backup (that won't work anyway) I had was Februrary 27th. :x

Some people are going to be mad. big_smile

Actually, silly me, I delted the last version of phpMyAdmin, and downloaded a new one.

I actually read the instructions this time, and followed them, and now it works. I changed the group_id to 1, and lo and behold, I'm an admin. Thanks a whole lot, I'm trying to restore the dB as we speak.

Unfortunatley, I do have it installed but it's not properfly configured, and my attempt at getting it to run gave me nothing but a "MySQL said: [ ? ]
#1045 - Access denied for user: 'admin@192.168.10.250' (Using password: YES)" error.

Can I edit the db through vi or something? tongue

Oh, and another thing:

I also back up my hard drive nightly (or, at least, I'm supposed to be, I never really checked whether it kept the midnight schedule after I ran the backup once...) and should have the actual mySQL database file backed up.

Where is that file? Methinks I can just replace the database file itself, and be done with it. That's the only part of my server that was compromised, as far as I can tell...

Okay, so I know I should keep up with the patches... and I know I should back up regularly... but, of course, I didn't. Now, I pay.

Long story short, I'm running OS X 10.3 server, have all the latest updates for that. Running PubBB 1.2.2, two security updates behind. Also have the backup admin plugin, but here is the problem. I'm no longer an admin. I have nightly backups of the drive, but I don't want to resort to that. Is there any way I can manually make myself an admin, or insert an admin account?

I have since blocked the IP and domain the guy (girl?) came in through, so I don't anticipate anything for a little while, at least. (I did a simple .htaccess block)

Now, I have all the forums and threads deleted, and my admin account is .. well .. not an admin account. tongue

How do I make one? I have full access to the 'server' - it's just a Yosemite G3 sitting on my table.

Thanks in advance,

-Tim
