Section 2.B.

does not include any nonprofit entity that would otherwise be exempt from coverage under section 5 of the Federal Trade Commission Act (15 U.S.C. 45).

I don't collect profits, and I sure as heck am not a company.

Section 2.A.

means any person who operates a website located on the Internet or an online service and who collects or maintains personal information from or about the users of or visitors to such website or online service, or on whose behalf such information is collected or maintained, where such website or online service is operated for commercial purposes, including any person offering products or services for sale through that website or online service, involving commerce

I agree.

I don't think the senior members of the site would like to be floded every day with questions that could best be answered in a discussion.

They only have it for 1.1.5

You want run 5 different Forums in 5 different directories, and all forums use the data of one DB?
Ist that right?

Then install one Forum with DB, load up your Forums to the dirs with the same config.php. Dont install them.
Now log  with yur account in and change the Base URL in ADMIN-->Options-->E-Mail.

Thats it.

But you can only log in in one, you can't logged in in all forums at the same time.

But why 5 Forums and one DB, in all forums is than the same stuff???

And the Performance, i dont know, I think thats the wrong way. I think its better to use for each forum a own DB.

I would love to know if this works without damaging the performance. But, I think he wants a shared database of users and logins...also, user info.
But, different topics, boards, posts, etc...

Such as if you have two different forums on your website, but don't want them together.

Apparently, it was caused by a security hole in their PHP code.

thank you!

Safety, safety, safety...
People could use HTML to embed scripts, images, and applets to get private information from users - or even worse things.

I don't think I would use IE7. With 10% of people surfing with javascript disabled it's a hack too far.

As for the next version of IE, it appears its going to be mainly security related and may even have the same rendering engine as IE6. The big danger is that they will fix the stuff which allows all the hacks to work but not the stuff the hacks fixed in the first place. The end result could be IE remains broken but there are no working hacks that can be used to fix it. I think if they can't give it a whole new standards compliant rendering engine I would rather they left it alone.

Ewww...No thanks - I'll stay with my extended Firefox Optimized Trunk Build. wink

That does look cool.
Except, Microsoft is apparently pushing to get IE7 (the real one) out this year. It is supposed to be more standards compliant - but we all know that Microsoft software is supposed to do a lot of things that it doesn't.

Gotcha...That does help if that's what you're looking for.

Awesome mod. big_smile

Looks fine in IE6 to me. If you a talking about IE5, its because IE5 does not understand margin:auto.

BTW: you are not using the same code/css for all pages. Your other pages are using the text-align:center hack to get around this problem.

Oh, whoops!
Left that line out. yikes

Fixed by putting in a
"text-align: center" to the HTML/BODY tag and a "text-align: left" to the .punwrap tag.

Thanks a bunch!

Ok:
I click on the RSS feed for your "Installation" forum.
Instead of showing the topics in order, is shows every post in topic order:

As in, instead of showing a single post for a topic in a forum, it shows every post to every topic...
Shouldn't it only do that for the feed for each topic?

http://www.alexking.org/forums/rss.php?fid=10
vs.
http://www.alexking.org/forums/rss.php?tid=620

Alrighty...
My forum is located in a sub-folder of my site (zanthria.com/bb), but I've set up a subdomain bb.zanthria.com which goes to the forum. All root paths are changed - the links at the top automatically switch to bb.zanthria.com/register.php, etc. All the cookies are working fine.

However, when I go to zanthria.com/bb, the same is true. Except all the paths and such are pointing to zanthria.com/bb links. This plays hell with logging in and cookies.

So - I went and configured the path of the forum as http://bb.zanthria.com in the Admin panel, and it still does this.
Is this fixable?

Why does my forum float in the center fine in Firefox, but slides all the way left in IE?
http://bb.zanthria.com

The index of my site works fine - so does the gallery, but the forum slides all the way over.
http://gallery.zanthria.com
http://zanthria.com
That's wierd.

I'm using the same code for all of them.

Woah...Love the new template.
So clean and professional.
Good choice. wink

Lets walk throught the errors...Shall we?

Line 41, column 4: document type does not allow element "li" here; missing one of "ul", "ol", "menu", "dir" start-tag

You have a list item without starting a list using the <ol> or <ul> tags...(as graue said...)

Actually....If you just change that part and this line:

<li><a href="http://validator.w3.org/check/referer" target="_blank">Valid XHTML 1.0</a></li>

by removing the "target='_blank'", your page will be XTML 1.0 Strict, which is better.

I was checking this out on your site, and it seemed pretty cool, except for the RSS Forums feed.
It was showing every post topic, instead of just a generalized topic...

Such as:

Main topic
Re: Main Topic
Re: Main Topic
Next Topic
Re: Next Topic...

The date on this is almost a year old...

Now that I have changed it, I think I liked the white background better, for the menu atleast.

I like the contrast, but the blue throws it off...

Try using this tool:

Oooo....
That would be nice.

Except it might get screwed up in forums that have different ways of displaying topics? (date last posted, date first posted, etc.)

Maybe links that say "Next New Topic" and "Older Topic", and still keep the "Previous Forum"/"Next Forum" links.

I need to change the gallery theme, something more centered like the way you have it.

Looks like we're following similar paths.

I just basically took one of the the themes from the singapore site and heavily modded the CSS.

The only problem I have is that my main page shows up centered in IE/Firefox, but the forum is skewed all the way left in IE.
The gallery is fine in IE also.

I have no clue why...

That's really impressive. The color scheme is very well done - not what I would do, but still good.
I also like the dashed borders.
