And Google advertised phpBB installation in an AdSense thing on the PunBB.org Forums. (And yes, I do mean they advertised phpBB installation, no typo there.)

http://sig.scottywz.com/what_the_heck.jpg is where I have a screenshot of the ad. Look at the bottom, I used this image in another post. (No, I don't use Firefox as my primary browser, and moderators, I am well aware that I already said that I don't use Firefox as my primary browser. smile )

While browsing through this topic, I hit that link and lo and behold, the top link points right back here smile Is that some kind of recursive search vortex?

Speaking of Google, they say they don't index pages with id=32754 or id=7777 or
id=kick+google+web+accelerator's+butt+before+some+chinese+
hacker+gets+a+hold+of+my+credit+card+number+because+I+
was+dumb+enough+not+to+use+a+merchant+with+a+secure+
server+and+google+web+accelerator+and+I+navigated+to+a+
page+blah+blah+blah or id=2. But, low and behold, they do. The link in the above quote proves it.

What I mean is like Webmasters getting mad at Greasmonkey for, let's say, Terms of Use violations. But I guess Greasemonkey is good in ways.

I think the parser just needs to be a little more careful when it comes to detecting end tags.

----------------------------------------------
|
hi
Where you see
you need to add an extra ] like this:
-------------------------------------
|
]

There's your problem.

You should have put the URL ending in (THX) in tags.

Keep what from showing up? The bug or the phpBB ads?

Here's how: http://punbb.org/forums/extern.php?type … action=new Put that RSS feed into your RSS reader. Do a search on your favorite search engine for one if you need one.

Looks like the parser needs a few fixes wink

That would just take all the fun out of it. smile But it might really need a few fixes.

Hey! I just noticed this: The Google Adsense ad in my screenshot was advertising phpBB installation, not PunBB installation, ON THE PunBB.org Forums! That's not fair! (Well, it's actually free speech.)

Because of the screw up the rest of the page thing?

It all stemmed out of a little experiment I did to see if I could apply formatting to the "xxx wrote:".

It even works in Firefox:

No, I'm not running a Beta version of Windows® XP. I'm running Windows® XP Home Edition (I wish it were Professional, though) with SP2.

I use Windows® Media Player 10 to listen to music on my computer, and I'm wondering if there's a way that I can show what song is playing in my user signature. Any ideas?

I knew it! I don't know what to do, though. Okay, maybe I do. Change the scripts so that it changes the characters the DB doesn't like into HTML entities, and then the parser parses them so that they are outputted as the respective entities (without the parser part it wouldn't work). The DB is happy, the parser is happy, and the user is happy!

I have a feeling that PostgreSQL doesn't allow foreign characters.

What kind of DB do you use?

From its site on mozdev.org:

Greasemonkey is a Firefox extension which lets you to add bits of DHTML ("user scripts") to any web page to change its behavior. In much the same way that user CSS lets you take control of a web page's style, user scripts let you easily control any aspect of a web page's design or interaction.

For example, you could:

Make sure that all URLs displayed in the browser are clickable links
Improve the usability of a site you frequent
Route around common and annoying website bugs
Use the Coral content network selectively.

Anyone here who doesn't like it?

Here's an idea for the next version of PunBB: Prevent admins from changing themselves to moderators, members, etc. Also prevent admins from deleting themselves. smile

Sometimes, you're away from home and you just need to check up on someting.

Unrelated, I viewed these forums on my cell phone (its browser supports forms), and it skipped the report/delete/edit/quote and subscribe, post reply, and quick post. I wonder why?

I like the downloadable PHP Manual at http://www.php.net/download-docs.php. smile
