Was wondering if anyone was planning on making a modification that displays similar threads at the bottom of the page similar to how you see a lot of forums that run vB.

carstalk.net also has the similar threads mod, which I have yet to find 8)

This is handy, how does it handle massive amounts of users, though?

it doesn't. i have 14K+ and it hangs forever.

hopefully someone works out a clean english version that works, this mod would be great.

Can't you just ban those domains? Go to admin/bans and add a new ban. Then enter e.g. hotmail.com in the field "E-mail/domain".

Edit: Don't forget to go to admin/permissions and set "Allow banned e-mail addresses" to no.

wouldn't that ban all of the existing users that have signed up under a hotmail account in the past?

psshaw connor wink

I have a website that has around 14,000+ members with a very active forum board, but I would like to dissallow people registering with e-mail addresses that are free. Ie: Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo, etc, etc.

Lots of people have been getting banned, but making hotmail accounts and then activating them, but maybe if someone has a plugin that lets us pick what domains are blacklisted from here on out.

I would not like to ban all of our existing users that have free email accounts, but not allow them from here on out. If anyone can whip something up, that would be great. smile

i'm getting a lot of comments from mac users complaining that it isn't working in safarai for them, but they have java installed

edit: And also... why not have a php script remove any characters not allowed in IRC names (ie spaces) before connecting?

Well it works up to a point on mobile devices. Opera Mini is fine but it could be improved with a couple of minor tweaks to a handheld stylesheet. Multi column tables are always going to cause a problem on any very narrow format device like a mobile phone and thats more than a css tweak. There is no need for a special version though as the reasons for them simply don't exist in PunBB.

If anybody did want to give this a try its actaully really easy. All that needs doing is tableless markup for index, viewforum etc being added to those files with an "if/else" to select whether the tabled or tableless version is dsiplayed according to a user preference. My guess is adding about a dozen lines of markup to each file with a table in it and an additional if/else statement wouldn't effect performance in any way so it might make a very good mod or extension.

sounds pretty sweet, i hope someone can make this mod in the future. smile

i have 10K+, thing times out just like the DB Backup plugin does. oh well tongue

I have seen a lot of forum boards have a feature where the end user can now surf the forum boards through their mobile devices.

Such as a site like this: www.absolutepunk.net can now be viewed on Sidekicks by going to: http://www.absolutepunk.net/sidekick

I was wondering if any of the hardcore punbb mod developers would consider trying to do this for punbb. I already know vB and Invision already have some mods that can do this, but I would like to see punbb users be able to view the boards when they are "on the go". smile

is there a way where we can have the best of both worlds, and have this mod work with the mark as read forums mod? i had to "replace" an entire area where i previously modded my forums so the threads would be marked, indicating a user has read that post already, and no new posts were made...

Update:

Now I am getting:

An error was encountered
Error: Unable to update user visit data.

Thanks smile

I really want something like what neowin.net has: http://neowin.net/forum/

i would like to know if anyone could make a mod that displays an announcement for only users that don't have an account (not logged in). This would be a great mod so we can remind people to make an account on every page they surf to, until they actually do register and login wink

Bad HTTP_REFERER. You were referred to this page from an unauthorized source. If the problem persists please make sure that 'Base URL' is correctly set in Admin/Options and that you are visiting the forum by navigating to that URL. More information regarding the referrer check can be found in the PunBB documentation.

I get this so much as soon as I implemented this in...

It's not my only mod, I don't care about any of the mods. Can I just download the 1.2.10 patch and go from there and everything will work?

Just patched to:

Update successful! Your forum database has now been updated to version 1.2.10. You should now remove this script from the forum root directory and follow the rest of the instructions in the documentation.
