I prefer just let firefox find its own problem and download the latest version when it comes out

As for IE, I nearly got rid of it, except for the dail in part for my msn

From a consumer standpoint, I didn't need it, Firefox had everything I needed, with the necessary protection.

From a developers standpoint, I honestly could not live without it.  Still, Firefox has not yet reached 10% of the total market share, and might not ever.  What is the majority of the market?  Internet Explorer, because people don't know any better that there is much better software for their computers, that will protect and serve - for FREE.

Well, I have made it a point to get mostly everyone that I know to go out and install Firefox, not only for my peace-of-mind, but for the protection and longevity of their software and hardware.

Seems like some great software.

That company (37signals) has a great reputation for project/organization management, so I am looking forward to using their free product.

I'm sure it is going to be better than a lot of other paid products.

I have majorly changed my page and punBB from originally and didn't want to start an entire topic for my same site, so I just updated this one.

Info on the upgrade is in the first post.

Definitely respectable:)

You've got a nice simple, but well integrated site there.  Best of luck

I Picky-note: You have the word "wierd" on your site. I am guessing that you are meaning to say, "weird".

Other than that, GOOD WORK!

I'd love to gog back to 1998.  But I can't - now back to the main issue.

2) The image thing at the bottom doesn't use CAPTCHA (from what I hear, CAPTCHA is not a PHP function/whatever)

I've looked over the sorce of the file, and it does seem to be a CAPTCHA, but one that doesn't rotate like many of the ones that we see today on registration forms.

Here is the link to the "CAPTCHA" image on the server.
http://forums.root32.org/img.php

When looking at the source, and the result of the page, I would still guess that it for some reason is being read as an image (possibly due to the code within img.php).

WORD is right, I love this one, Gonna Buy it, support the cause.

I was thinking about one of the golf shirts with just the larger logo in it, without the PunBB text. (This way, people might come up to you and ask you what the logo is.  Then you can tell them its the logo for a great free piece of software that they should try out.

Also, about the sweatshirt, is there any possibility that it might be available in white, rather than the ash gray. (As I am not a fan of the gray - as you can see wink)

"CAPTCHA" is an acronym for "completely automated public Turing test to tell computers and humans apart".  It is what is on the registration form on the website in question, but doesn't always have to be programmed in php.  See thr following wikipedia entry for more information

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captcha

As you can see, there is a lot of programming languages that you can make a CAPTCHA for.

... one thing I did find, was several problems with the HTML on these pages. I am only to assume there's some form of XML? I haven't looked around properly, but most of these tags I've never even heard of. The problem could quite possibly lie there.

Yes, I am in total agreement.  There were a lot of odd tags in the source.  But that's just XHTML.  XHTML = ODD wink

Smithers wrote:

FireFox and Opera have a track record for not formatting things the same as IE. But yeah, all this works in IE so it's not a server/code error - it's an error in the way the browser/s are handling things.

This is also true, but I think it is safe to say that there is something definitely weird/fishy with the image (CAPTCHA) code here.

EDIT:
This image on the server might be why Firefox refuses to show the page correctly:

check .htaccess and see whether or not you have php parsing as:

I am 99% sure that the problem has to do with the CAPTCHA at the bottom of the registration form.
Make sure that your PHP with that is closed properly.

This is right from the FAQ:

Yes, but please don't. If you must, please try to keep at least "Powered by PunBB" with the link to www.punbb.org intact.

So, I feel he is clear of any infraction.  But I would prefer what Rickard said on the site about leaving the "Powered by PunBB, just to show others what great free, open source software you are using.

It is indeed.  The simplicity of it (as I have found so far) makes customization much easier, because you can add elements that you need without having to go through thosands upon thousands of lines of code in other bb software.

Since I came upon this great software (yesterday), I am already starting to write my first mod for it.

All the best

Any updates?

I am messing around with the software on my host and do have to say that Punbb 1.2.8 has got to be some of the best forum software out there.

Looking forward to the SEo friendly URL's and the RSS (if that is going to be in there - from the reading that I have already done, it looks as if it might still be in there)

Looking forward to writing a few mods of my own.
