Well, to be honest, I was sure, and I know I made some chnages to the code, and then put them back, and then chnaged them, etc. In the end I can't remeber if I ended up permanently changing anything other than removing that one line break.

In any case, it's wokring correctly now, so either there was just a glitch from the upgrade (I deleted the posts that had extra spaces and posted new tests which are formatted corectly even when nested) or I really did end up changing something...

figured out how to fix it on my own....

okay, i just realized that that only effects quotes that aren't nested. If the quote become nested we are back to having the etxra space...

I finally managed to do that. Was what throwing my right off is that that line is line 222, not 300.

so now that punbb 1.1 is out, how about helping us out? smile

after installing 1.1 my quoted text is back to the old way, as you suggested it would above.

How do I make the same chnage in 1.1?

my apoligies for forgetting to fill out the subject line...

it would be very excellent inddeed. I can think of a million uses for being able to display potions of the forum on other webpages.

(okay, maybe not a million)

i have been trying to find a decent  news system, but I am frustrated. I just can't seem to find one that is both well written *and* simply and streamlined and easy to integrate into my design.

That it, I want PunNews!!!!

news funtion. ie ability to use the punbb databse to display news on the front page, which can be posted via the forum.

is there a way to extract the contents of one thread or forum and integrate them on a hopepage as a news posting funtion? I know there are mods for phpBB that do this.

Also, what type of system are you using to post news on the punbb homepage?

i dont mind moderators being able to modify profiles and so on, however i would like  the option to strip certain moderators of banning power. Actually what would be ideal is if there was an ption for moderators to issue a ban but not have it take effect unless confirmed by an admin. Pipe dream, i know.

Hi there,

I am badly wanting to learn PHP so that I can convert my static HTML pages. It is simply too much of a shore to go through dozens of pages to chnage one entry on the menu. I used to use frames to avoid that, but now obviously frames are out.

PhP will allow me to create on single page for the "menu" and insert it into every page, coprrect?

Are sever side includes a better choice?

Well, in any event I would like to know what a good beginners book is for a non-programmer such as me.

nevermind, i see that the issue has been adressed. arggh, juts must wait for the next version......................

If this has been brought up before, I apoligize.

I just realized, through my own tinkering that it is possible for a moderator to not only modify the admins profile, but to in fact ban the admin. This is not good at all!

In addition, I think that for the next release it would be very nice to have more control in general over what moderators can and cannot do.

Ign is hyge, but I think GameFaqs.com might be bigger still. IGN makes you pay, so IGN lost me as a visitor.

still, I wouldn't mind seeing a small minamalist graphic like the one used to indcate new messages...

I have tires ocCommerce, and while it certainly seems to be a well designed program, I felt it fell under the category of needlessly compex, and I was unable to figure out how to modify it's appearance. Perhaps I really am stupid....

I am currently looking for a shooping cart system that is built in the spirit of PunBB. That is:

-easy, easy, easy to install
-streamlines and simple to use
-not loaded with needless and complex features
-easy to customize the appearance.
-supports paypal without additional mods.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

BTW, it would also be really, really nice if it was free.....

had a look in there and i have to say I am lost, i don't know which part to edit, I will end up messing something up. The code boggles my mind.

I learn a lot of things quickly, html was a breeze. but I have never been able to graps any programming or scripting language, even javascript.

I would prefer if quoted text was formated without the blank line after the "Username wrote"

So that

"Blah wrote:

balhbalahsajashdljahfjkhdsffjkfhs"

becomes

"Blah wrote:
blahblahblah balahalahalahj"

Addionally it would be nice if the posting screen had a set of buttons to perform common function like "quote" "unquote" and so on. Just the basics for those users who don't know how to use BBcode manually.

I know I have posted a lot of suggestions in one day, so let me assure you that I appretiate PunBB in it's simplicity. I don't care for private messaging, or excessivley grpahical interfaces. Or impossible to leanr skinning systmes. It's just those little tweaks that would be so nice to have.
