hahaha

Captain Barbell, you really should update your board considering the bug and security fixes that have been put into place since .5 came about.

Drupal is better than Mambo?
I thought Mambo was the undisputed king of CMS portals.

No, Mambo is just the newest thing to come. Remember, Nuke used to be top of the line...then came something else...then something else..then something else...

...whatever is new, is always the king. If you were to judge by how many sites there are that use the software, Nuke would probably win. I run across more nuke sites than normal sites sometimes.

Personally, I like Xoops. It's been my favorite piece of website software for a couple years now, and I doubt I'll ever find anything I like better. The community puts out some great software modules for it, the themes are easy to make and manipulate, and it's a right out of the box solution for many users. It currently comes packaged with some great addons (forum, links manager, contact form, downloads manager, and more). I've tried Mambo, and it was harder for me to work with than everyone claimed it would be. Nuke on the other hand is a living nightmare. I hate it. I hope it dies.

Personally, I hate bugmenot and mailinator. If someone doesn't want to register for a site I run, fine...don't use my site. I set the terms of use for MY site, not you. If you can't seem to get over the fact that you aren't the admin of it, than find another site to use.

Ok, here's the thing. I could add chacmools mod into the next release. After that, someone will tell me that they feel attachment support is equally "essential" these days and then I will add that as well. Then, all of a sudden, PunBB will be identical to every other bulletin board software out there. I'm not kidding here. Giving PunBB more features actually makes it less attractive. If PunBB had the same amount of features as e.g. Invision Power Board, why the hell would anyone want to use PunBB?

That said, I'm considering adding chacmool's PM mod, but I haven't decided yet. I have to take a much closer look at it before I make my decision.

Truth be told, this is so far one of the only things keeping me from switching my forum from Invision Board to Punbb. I really love the speed and simplicity of Punbb, but the lack of instant messaging is kind of keeping me back. However, I'm also not really sure how much it gets used on my forum. I just don't want to hear them complain when they find out it's not there. I'm going to post and find out how much it gets used.

Congrats on the new look. I really dig it.

Personally, I run an invision board because of it's massive features. Plus, I am more used to it than any other forum software. However, I love punbb and it's simplicity. It doesn't try to do more than most people really need and is very fast. I've mentioned on bbpixel about doing a ported version of it for Xoops. I think it would be great to tie in (or atleast bridge) a fast board like punbb with a powerful CMS.

Oh, and I believe I may be using punbb on my next project. smile

um...that is an Invision Powered board. I must have missed the punbb version.
