Yes you are right, I just downloaded config_cache.php and edited the base URL and re-uploaded it, no database work needed.  Everything is fine now, thanks!

How the heck do you get into the database manually?  You mean I have to extract the whole thing using a mod, edit it, and then restore it?

I read the BAD HTTP sticky because I know it must be annoying when people post questions that are answered right infront of them but I thought this was a different problem, sorry!

I was changing the base URL in the admin console.

It was "http://domain.com/forums" but I wanted to change it to "http://www.domain.com/forums" but I accidentally left out the "." after "www" so it said "http://wwwdomain.com/forums" without the period after "www".

Now whenever I try to fix it and click save changes I just get a BAD HTTP REFERRER.  Please help!

Ok so how do I decrypt them?  Or is that something we shouldn't talk about in public?

I had to switch web hosts and was unsuccessful at transferring the database.  I was able to extract all of the data but couldn't import it.

So, my main concern was losing all of the users.  I have all of the usernames in the database file I extracted, but where can I find the passwords?  That way I can just re-signup all of the members with their original email and password.

I notice next to each username in the sql file there is a code such as "4dbn839fhf921b47bpn3" or whatever.  Is that some type of password encryption?

Thanks for any help!

I just installed PunBB 1.2.15 and uploaded it to my site.  I didn't modify any files, and the smiley images are uploaded, but they won't work on my forum.  BBcode is enabled.  I did not change anything.

Smilies worked on the previous version.

Any suggestions?

Yes, this is in the Wiki I just found it: How To Change Moderator Text Color

Maybe try debug mode?

We are switching web hosts and need to backup the database and install it into our new database with the new web host.

I used Connorhd's AP_DB_Management plugin from the download page and I was able to extract the database into a ".sql" file.  When I Restore the database by overwriting the same database in which I backed up, everything works fine.  However, when I try to use the "restore from saved file" feature on the new database it doesn't work (nothing happens).  I am trying to transfer the database into a new database.

*One database is MySQL 4.0.27 standard-log and the other one is MySQL 3.23.58

Please Help!

I noticed the new installation guide (PunBB 1.2.15) doesn't mention what properties need to be assigned to all the folders.

Which folders need to be CHMOD 777, etc?

Thanks

When I backup the database I get a .sql file.  Does it contain all of the info necessary to make an exact duplicate on a brand new database/server?  Or is there any programming I would have to do?

Thanks a lot for the help by the way!

We use MySQL and don't have access to any management features.

And thats why I think we are out of luck, but I just wanted to make sure.

Haha, I have NO idea what that means!

Good idea, I am also interested.

My company is switching web hosts this weekend and I need to know if there is any way we can save all of our forum members and posts.  I know we are probably out of luck, but is there any way we can save anything?

Another question: when we switch, I might as well upgrade to PunBB 1.2.15 but I noticed the installation guide doesn't mention anything about CHMODDing the folders 666 or 777 or whatever.  Do we still need to know which folders get which properties?

Thanks a lot guys!

Sounds like someone is ddosing your site, either that or you just got a lot of traffic all of a sudden from somewhere.

ok maybe it IS a big deal, could someone be trying to hack me or something?  it keeps going higher and higher each time I refresh the page.  There can't really be a new visitor every 3 seconds.  What the heck!?!

Is there something going wrong with my "guest counter" because I never have more than 15-20 guests online and right now it keeps growing and growing and won't stop.  Theres over 100 guests online.  Its almost like whenever a guests gets on, the counter goes up, but then when they leave it doesn't go back down.  Its not a big deal, but its kind of weird!

Does anybody know of a free php mailing list script that automatically sends out emails once someone has signed up.  For example, I have 10 pre-written emails that will go out once per week for 10 weeks for new signups.  So if someone signs up today, they will get email #1 and then next week #2.  But then if someone signs up next week I want them to start from email #1.

So I need an auto-sender that sends in intervals starting from email #1 when someone signs up.  I think I made this sound much more complicated than it really is, but you get the idea!

Thanks!

Oh I guess the ap_style_installer mod is for automatic installation (it needs write permissions).  So what I described would be a manual installation, ok, I get it now!

In order to add a new style/skin you have to use the AP_Style_Installer plugin.  Well if I install a new style, can I edit the CSS and then just FTP overwrite the old CSS or would I have to install the new style all over again?

For example:

I installed a new style that was green and yellow. (not really, but thats just an example)

Then, after it was installed, I decided to change it to green and grey.

Could I just overwrite the old CSS file or would I have to install it all over again?

Why not just make a hidden admin account if you want to be online without user visible admin status?

That is exactly what I am asking, how do you do that?

How do I make it so administrators can appear offline?

To make a long story short, I cannot upload images onto the same database/server that the forums are configured on.  Can I change the avatar upload directory to a different website or does it have to be on the same website/server/database as the forums?

Thanks!

Is there anyway I can make a group similar to moderators except the only permission they have more than a normal member is to delete posts?  I am asking because I have some members that I dont really want to be moderators but when I am out of town I want someone to be able to delete the posts by "porn spammers"

So they would be a normal member except they can delete posts, thats it.

I did check the Moderator permissions but it was just to allow them to ban users and stuff like that...

Do moderators have access to the admin options?
