Does anybody know how to allow website members to upload their own mp3s onto your website?  For example, Myspace.com allows bands to upload their music so they have a personal bandpage.  Will this require a big programming headache or is there a simple way to do it?

I would like to know how to create a new Punbb page without the forum topics.  For example, the chat room mods create a new page with the punbb template.  Sorry if I'm not making sense!  But I mean a new page with the PunBB logo and navigation menu with "profile" "search" "login" etc but the page will be blank so I can do whatever I want with it.  I'm guessing I would create a new file with something like (include: main.tpl or something like that???

Ok here is my problem:

BBCode is great and its nice for me as an admin to be able to use the url codes and for members to use the "quote" feature.  But these immature creeps are ruining the friendly environment and I think they will start to back off if they cannot use their stupid links anymore.  It would be great if there was a way for me to do either of the following...

1) Disable BBCode URL LINKS ONLY and allow all other BBcodes.
2) Disable BBCode URL links for members only.

Can either of those be accomplished?  These porn website advertisers are sickening and my members feel disrespected and very annoyed.

This is kind of scary.  Is it possible for these guys to hack into our servers through PunBB?  What if someone has their forums on an e-commerce site?  yikes...

Is there a way to disable BBCode links for members but not the administrators?

I am the admin on my forums and I cannot use links in my posts by using the code <a href="blahblah"><Blah</a> but other users seem to find a way to make it work.  How do they do it?

I would just ask them but they are immature creeps who are advertising nasty adult websites so I just delete the post and ban them right away.

OK well I guess I am just going to have to start banning IP addresses.  It says to be careful when doing so.  Just how likely is it that banning a few IP addresses will affect other users?

I have been having people come onto my forums and post links to some pretty disturbing websites that I don't even want to give names about.  I want my members to be able to post links and such, but does anyone have any advice on how to prevent this stuff.

The max file size is only 10 KB, thats very small.  If the max file size was much larger then those header warning would not show up?

Several forum members have sent me messages saying they get this error message when uploading avatars.  I assumed it is happening because their files are too big, but whats with the header.php errors?

I should have been more clear, I just want them to enter a password, not have to create their own username and password.  The password will be the same for everybody and will not contain any individual usernames.

Does anybody know of a good program that protects web pages with a password, similar to memberships.  I would like to make a section of free stuff in which you must enter a default password to gain access to the page.

Make a guest-only redirect forum.

I'm not sure what you mean.  The whole point of this to to make it so only members have access.  I do not want guests to have any access.

I want to make it so only members may view my forums.  I made it so guests cannot read, reply, or post but then when a guest visits the site it says "Board is empty."  How can I change "board is empty" to a message such as "You must register to view the forums"???

P.S - I dont know if this should go in "troubleshooting" or "mods"

About the database, I would like to know how much space I should have to support thousands of members and thousands of posts.  For example, these forums (PunBB.org) have thousands of users and tens of thousands of posts.  How much space to do you need to support that?  My current database is only 350 KB.  Is that too small?  What is a decent amount of space?

Ok last question, I promise!  Is there any risks for everybody having access to the error information during debug mode?

Also, I am pretty sure it might have something to do with the web host, I have been very skeptical about them.  What is a good database size for a forum that will have a large amount of members and posts?  For example, equivalent to the PunBB.org forums.

Current Database: Rows: 2895
Size: 350.93 KB

Ok so if I enable debug mode right now and wait for the error to occur, would the forums still be fully functional to the members and only be in debug mode for the admins?  I would like to know a little more about the mode before I do this in order to make sure it is done correctly.  Thank you for your time guys.

If I enable debug mode, does the error have to be occuring as I enable it?  The reason I ask is because the error randomly pops up and only lasts for a few minutes.  I am the forum admin and I do not have FTP access to the site, and the person with FTP access does not know very much about PHP.  So I would have to wait for the error to occur again and then I would not have enough time to get ahold of him and have him get on his computer and upload the debug file.

An error was encountered
Error: Unable to fetch category/forum list.

It happened again, could it be the web host?

The only changes I made were CHMOD'ing files to 755 like I was told to do.  I am not getting the error anymore.  Weird.  It appeared for 2 minutes as I kept refreshing then it finally went away

I cannot have the forums unavailable, I will get in trouble!

I am running a commercial website and just got this error:

An error was encountered
Error: Unable to fetch category/forum list.

I need help QUICK!

I know how to do ranks based upon how many posts people make, but how do you create a new member group?  For example on PunBB.org I have seen people with the title "PunBB Donor" and "Punosaurus".

Error: Unable to write configuration cache file to cache directory. Please make sure PHP has write access to the directory 'cache'.

All files must be 755 right? or 644?

its ok, we had to delay the installation and renamed install.php to a filename only WE knew so that nobody could access our install page.  we just had to rename it back to install.php
