You, not u. It's two extra letters to type. That's not a major inconvenience for anyone.

Speaking of a higher authority: http://wordpress.org/development/2009/0 … e-gpl-too/

That part is not in any doubt. smile The functionality of the base system still exists without those GPL files though, (in this case), hence the differing licences shouldn't be problematic.

I can't see any reason why the two licences can't happily co-exist in your specific situation. Just make sure all copyright info stays intact on the PunBB files and you should be fine.

You could always e-mail the FSF to double check, if you wanted to make certain. They are usually very helpful in answering questions which aren't specifically answered in their FAQ. Their answers can be somewhat vague in meaning, however. Interpretation of their rules can be rather broad, even when you get a specific response from them.

For custom subdomain situations, I doubt you'll find a free host offering that.

It's a minefield trying to understand the GPL. big_smile The rule of thumb which I work on these days is that if your code can work independently of the GPL code, then your code can be licenced under whatever licence you choose. If your code will not function without the GPL code, however, then your code also needs to be GPL.

It appears your situation falls under the former.

Not really sure to understand...
I put 3 flags (buttons) on my website, just for change language (default is english).

Example : http://www.intramessenger.net/images/bt_us.gif

You prefer a combo, with only the current language displayed ?

(sorry for my english roll)

Your English is quite good. You have no problem there. smile

I was referring to this one: http://www.theuds.com/images/flag_us.gif which appears dotted around other parts of your site. smile Here, for example:

http://www.theuds.com/load.php?lang=#intramessenger

I'm just being pedantic, granted, but using the American flag to signify the English language is, to put it subtly, taking the pee a tad. big_smile

Not related to the script, but can't you put the British flag on to signify the English language selection on your site, as it should be?

The permissions for the "cache" directory should be 0777 too. This directory contains executable PHP code. So pun_repository isn't less secure than the whole forum.

Those directories only need to be writable for the httpd user, not everyone.

Well, I can't make head nor tail of your last post, but I assume that means you found the problem?

There is no TOS. PunBB is GPL software. Anyone can download it and use it as they see fit. The only stipulation as such is that all copyright information has to remain intact in the source code. It does not limit how people can use the software, however.

Any issues you have should be directed to the board|forum in question.

I.E 5 you'll most likely never get working correctly. I wouldn't waste too much time worrying about that, to be honest. With the Opera issue, you'll most likely find the problem is at your end rather than with Opera. Opera really can be anal over the silliest of things on occasion. Check the HTML and CSS validity of your code, make sure that's upto par and then, if the problem persists, find out what's causing it. If you can get the layout working fine with Opera, you'll usually find it displays fine in every other real, (not I.E), browser too. You may well just have an extra|missing or misplaced tag or suchike causing that issue.

Do try to remember which forums you post on.

Doesn't matter a jot in truth. Personally though, I've never been a fan of the www prefix. I just redirect that to the bare domain.

Slightly off-topic: I'm getting paid hosting soon - do email notifications consume much bandwidth (if any)??

Not really, unless you're sending thousands per day out. The message body is basic and hence quite small. Personally, I don't use confirmation e-mails, but that's more due to the fact of the amount of muppets who never think to check their spam folders, (or actually flag the confirmation e-mail as spam when they've requested it), when they receive the e-mail. Then they wonder why they can't log in. Too much hassle in my book.

What does it mean by local email program?

The local maildrop method via the sendmail command. You ought to contact your host regarding this. It sounds like something they have screwed up, (intentionally or otherwise).

Nope.

My apologies. I misinterpreted your post somewhat. smile

I agree it's not advisable, but I was unable to figure out how to successfully create csrf tokens for forms that exist outside of my punbb directory.

It wasn't intended as a criticism. smile I merely mentioned it so that people don't blindly apply that change above without realising that it has drawbacks. smile

Discussion board is about personal opinions, is it not? Or you're implying that I'm not entitled to have one?

You know full well that is not what I'm implying. However, your personal layout preferences have no place in an extension request thread either. The O.P is requesting something that does not exist in pure form. You are suggesting something which you should be altering yourself to fit your needs. That is why it is called styling.

That's merely personal preference|opinion.

Nice to see you've implemented the image refresh option in the extension too. smile

You could add an IP-checking function to the start of every file in /admin, either by direct editing or (better) through an extension.

That check could also be done simply in the common file which is always included by every admin file.

I too was having a similar issue after converting our CMS to use PunBB's login authentication system.  The simple solution is to just define the constant FORUM_SKIP_CSRF_CONFIRM before including any PunBB code.  It took some digging, but I found that check included in include/common.php before verifying the CSRF token.

define("FORUM_SKIP_CSRF_CONFIRM", 1);

Just a note for anyone who may read this thread. Doing as suggested above is most definitely not advisable.
