yeah, in a while

excellent. noticed at the mom if I uninstall all the quotes are gone - when just upgrading that is a bit frustrating. it all always disappears right?

new question: assuming I want a set running at the top and a different set running at the bottom
is that hard to implement for you?
then it would also be good if one could set ON/OFF in the actual set of quotes - at the moment if I want them to go away I have to uninstall and loose all right?

I'm currently using a very primitive form of adding styles, languages and extensions to a xml - by simply entering all the data directly into it.

Now there must be some way to get this working so that I can enter data into a openoffice calc or openoffice table.

At the moment if I want to change order I have to manually do so. There is obviously some cool way of using this but I'm ignorant to what way to go forward.

Any input welcome.

but don't you just want to publish something with less features and have people test it and give you feedback. of course if you can add all those features and put it all in version 1.0 all the better. but it's hard to get things right from start?
always helps me to see something in action and then by using it notice what else I'd need.

Also please can someone clarify the license terms from a buyers perspective. If I'm being charged $500 for a major extension by another dev I'll be pretty ducked off if the developer then releases it for free the very next day

It's an interesting issue. If he plans on doing that he should tell you so from outset (honor codex?). But, you might need it for a client of yours  who in turn is paying you - so in some cases you might not mind if he publishes it after. Lots of ways of looking at it.

You'd never legaly be able to "get him" for it though. You could maybe have him banned from this forum in such a case where he agreed not to and then still did. But that leaves loads of doors open: posting in another name, posting from different IP etc etc. Posting in another forum altogether. Uncontrollable isn't it?

it also depends; if he's not making one for community or free or fast (i.e. very soon)...
then the one that is public access deserves priority no?
also the one that hits the market first has first-mover advantage smile

@milkychild: added a version of your instructions slightly altered by me to styles directory - if you would like to make yours as a "downloadable" version - please do so
or let me know what you think of the way i've done it.
I'm  basically trying to speak to people who are new to punbb & have downloaded latest version and want most simple way to add something - even though nothing with mods is ever going to be really simple... i guess...

where did you download them?
which section?
don't sound like they're made for 1.3.2 !

you've put them in right place though judgin by what you describe....
there needs to be a file    style (i.e. oxygen.php)  .php in the folder you download with the new style. otherwise it won't work anyhow....

EDIT: only just realized you're posting in the 1.2 - so what version are you running? if you're new - i'd be surprised you're going with 1.2 instead of 1.3

I posted it here because it reflects what I saw with one of mine before I locked it smile
I was getting one thread with all such posts aswell. Just in one forum one thread (not threat big_smile). They don't seem to spam all forums across all categories.

I think connerhd must be keeping that site up as a honeypot. Otherwise he needs to do some serious housecleaning over there

that does make sense. honeypot thing.
but don't those spammers just use botnetworks - get you to download software crackz etc on a warez site - then leave a backdoor open when you run it...
then again it does always seem to be from ex-USSR that I get spammed like that.... at one point it was always with .ru email addies. As I was only adressing a local market in a foreign language I knew those were not real interest and just banned all adresses from that topleveldomain big_smile unfair as it is - effective it was.
but who knows - maybe it would help stopforumspam smile

I've been thinking about adding some "interesting" content to the left and right side of a Forum X.

Now I have this kind of information in the form of RSS feeds:

http://random.com/rss.xml?cat=3&num=10&direct

   (cat = categorie   ;   num = number of results to be shown....

How would people recommend I input something like that in a clean way?

I know how to get flash objects or gifs next to my forum, but how do I add RSS into a div or .... ?

Any help appreciated.

Say you have a website and want news from other sites appearing on the left and right, that can be useful to users....

Then ideal would be to be able to just have a form in the admin section: [paste rss feed] [choose location; i.e. left right top bottom]

I was wondering about those statistics. Kind of give the impression they catch everything and competitors don't catch X'XXX.

They all say in their installation options not to run others alongside I thought? Some don't even let you install if they've detected certain other known products.(McAfee?)
