sf.net does offer SVN now.

Yann,

PunBB 1.2.14 was released well after work on 1.3 was started. So I don't think the 1.2 branch has been abandoned like you say.

sf.net is planning on revamping their support forums. The site is going through an overhaul, it's getting easier to navigate and is faster. Now with Google code breathing down their neck and all.

Maybe Rickard can open a temporary forum for the 1.3 testing, so that everything don't go directly on trac?

We've talked about this but 1.3 is still not ready for widespread testing, too much is changing too quickly. But once 1.3 has reached a stage where the developers want more feedback, then either a new forum would be created on this forum or better yet, a new 1.3 based one would be setup temporarily.

You could probably do something now with PunBB 1.2.14, do a search on these forums for others that have done integration.

PunBB 1.3 shouldn't be that long of a wait, we should have a good idea of a release time frame soon.

Hi devdan,

We're looking at adding this functionality to PunBB 1.3, since it appears to be a very popular request on these forums.

Not ready yet, the dev team is still working on trac.

I've gotten the impression that Trac is unable to handle multiple concurrent users.

Is my source of information wrong?

Hi,

We did this for Nucleus CMS, have a look at the plugin and see if it guides you in some way.

If a major security issue props up in 1.2.14, and it's still early in the 1.3 adoption rate, I would think it would be addressed in 1.2.15.

But all future work would be directed towards 1.3, mostly getting mods over to extensions, so that users can upgrade.

Well, as for hosting, if you register your domain with GoDaddy, they give you free hosting.

This is on a Linux box, Apache, MySQL and PHP included. Just have to agree to have ads on the top of your site for the time being. I set up an account for someone and they are happy with it, when they feel they can justify a hosting package, then their site can move over without them touching a thing.

Maybe this is a similar situation?

Paul, it just surprised me, but it's rather slow anyway.

dnfbb looks like a knockoff of PunBB, even down to the admin screens.

The last thing I want to do is become an admin over punbb, smf, phpbb, etc. etc. etc.

That's the main reason I've stuck with one app per purpose. It's easier to stay current if all your forums run the same app or your front ends run the same CMS. Heck, just staying current with 4 or 5 main apps is a task in itself, throw in different apps per domain and you're asking for a headache.

A pleasant side effect from standardizing on certain apps is that it's very easy to launch new domains at will.

I have enough with keeping track of emails, forums and feeds nowadays. Add in a PM system and it's just one more thing to keep an eye out for. I frequent a vBulletin forum and I often times forget to check my PM's. I think it's used more for moderator communication than anything else, from what I've seen on the boards I frequent.

That's not to say a PM extension would not be a welcome addition, as would any other wished upon features.

And yes, PunBB's forum mail does contain the senders email address.

Too bad Riklaunim doesn't keep up with his benchmarks.

Nice mod, I like Geshi, I use it in DokuWiki, thanks.

Hi,

As of Revision 692, the SVN code is in a bit of flux. r692 was the start of many changes made by Paul to the forum's markup, it's going to take a few days to work out any issues that may have cropped up.

Keep pulling SVN, things should normalize soon enough.

So, dear dev team, what do you think about this ? big_smile

SEF Url's are already in place in PunBB 1.3, they are working rather well I might add.

On a side note, Luka makes one of the nicest templates around.

Very nice integration, nice choice of apps wink

For some well done DokuWiki templates, as a starting point, check out Michael Klier's site.
