Maybe that was it?

If you think the posts counts are off, you could run Connor's forum cleanup plugin:
http://punbb.informer.com/downloads.php

Make sure you have a backup first.

Invite your homies.

Nice skins, though the selector shouldn't show for guests, it does nothing.

The only problem I see is that with all the graphics on the top, the forum actually begins below my available browser space. Like I click a forum and all I see are the header images and I have to scroll down, could get old.

You can try this: http://www.punres.org/desc.php?pid=405

Be careful though, it may open up your forum to wacky people smile

I don't know of a way to show the slide show code in a post, html doesn't work, only bbcode.

If it's your forum, paste it into the announcements block.

Hi,

The code you pasted works, I just pasted it into a plain html document.

Where exactly do you want to include this in your forum?

There's one at punres.  Why not continue to use that?

PunRes is run by Jansson, and since he left to work on FluxBB, who knows what the future holds?

I think PunBB needs an official Wiki anyway, so that's why I asked.

Anatoly,

When you do the site update, could you put a wiki at http://punbb.informer.com/docs/ ?

If you use DokuWiki, I can populate it really quickly with the regular docs from here http://bertgarcia.net/txpun/forum/punbb

Doku comes with a PunBB auth layer, so whoever is signed on to the forum gets access to the wiki.

Thanks.

Six months ago, if you were up to date, then you would be running 1.2.15 or even 1.2.16.

You could do this:
Upload a fresh install of 1.2.17,
populate the database with your data,
edit config.php accordingly,
then run 12_to_127_update.php from your forum's root

ok, any software it is.

grab the xampp lite zip: http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-windows.html#646
unzip it to c:
run c:\xampplite\xampp-control.exe - start apache and mysql
go to http://localhost - pick your language
run phpmyadmin from the side menu, you need to create a database for punbb
unzip punbb, copy the upload directory to c:\xampplite\htdocs - rename upload to punbb
go to http://localhost/punbb/install.php in your browser, follow the directions

* don't worry about cache in windows

See this and this posts for my opinion.

Keep in mind that small forum users will flock to FluxBB, just for the comradery with the devs they know. On the other hand, large forum users have a decision to make, cause their forums are cornerstones of their online presence and they can't play forking games.

If your plan is to rely on the FluxBB core and create extensions, then PunBB just became extinct.

Anatoly,

Besides moving punbb.org to punbb.informer.com, which I stated was a bad move, what caused the core programmers to decide to fork?

The reason I ask is simple, SoftDeluxe is looking like the ones that caused the split by requiring the core programmers to change PunBB to fit a corporation's interests. This has fueled the exodus of the community because they feel like their interests weren't looked after. You need to clarify this, so those of us sitting on the fence can make up our own minds.
