Anyway, the problem is that the user you provided during the installation don't have access to the database.

that or its an invalid password ( i think that could be a cause)

alright, i have a web server (Xitami), and i have PHP 5.0.1 installed on it. i also have some version of MySQL installed on it, too lazt to check. i will if its needed.

my problem is that when i try connecting to the database, it returns this errer.

Fatal error: Call to undefined function mysql_connect() in C:\xitami-25\app\ftproot\connect.php on line 2

of cource line 2 is where the connect is located. i looked around, and found in the MySQL manual that PHP must be compiled with MySQL support. ive searched google, and have found nothing yet.

if anyone could point me to a site with a precompiled version, id appreciate it.

I'm now done with my latest converter-tool: all converters under one roof!

I've now also added YabbSE v1.5.5 to the list of converters. If someone want's to convert a forum, please try out this beta instead of using the converters from the download page. I've also fixed a bug where some people couldn't use the converter as they had special characters in the database-name.

Download here.
Screenshot here.

If you use it, please tell me what you think.

hmm... why havent you added PHPNuke to it?

it looks great, btw

the Mac is an old PowerPC (i think...). even if it worked, i probally wouldnt use it. its 8.somethin.somethin.....

yes, with the realease of OSX, i started liking Mac alot more. its much cleaner and easier to use. i still dread the days of using the old 9.x.x at my school....

no, PunBB doesnt have this feature, and it seems almost pointless. if you want people to be mods, you make them be a mod. you could install the PM mod if you want, and do it that way.

hmm... im thinking you want to put a picture, and when the person moves there mouse over it, it changes the color and some text popsup with some info about the pic?

i know a site with alot of javascript, and has something like this, but its down now, so i cant get it sad

well, all through elemtrey school, i was "forced" to use Macs. of cource, at school, you cant really do anything on them. every other computer ive ever had has been a PC. i have one Macintosh, and its sitting under my PC, because it doesnt work.

i guess the main reason is i have no clue how to do anything on it, while i know quite a bit on PCs.

edit: also, if i wanted to use Plesk, id have to access the server itself, correct? i couldnt just put it onto a site and have it work? and if i did put it on my own server, how easy is it to install?

Seems a lot of people working on their own...my attempt: http://www.phpmywebthing.com

I was able to hack in punBB without to much work, http://www.phpmywebthing.com/addons/punBB/ but not very efficient in the end....thinking may be time to try to write my own (even minimum would be good if good integration)

http://nucleuscms.org looks pretty sweet

look around line 180 in include/function.php and just delete this link

That only stops people from clicking a link to it tongue
You would need to delete the file or limit access to admins/mods

OK 3 QUESTIONS!

1. This PunBB looks great, its up and running but it is VERY SLOW to load.  Especially the first visit.  Any way to fix this?

2. Also WHY are we required to display a user list?  Can we keep that private?

3. How can I display the forum from within a page of my site?  Do I have to use frames?

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE big_smile

PunBB should be pretty fast.

Just go in and take the code out. Also be sure to delete userlist.php to prevent people from getting to it anyway.

well, id say make your own style. you could put it in a frame, but i never suggest using frames.

Anand, I hadn't posted the skin for download because of some small IE issues with the current CSS. But it works great in Firefox, which at this point is the only one I care about wink

and i dont care about IE either, you should release it smile.

not sure, but find

// get_title() requires that an element 'username' be present in the array
$cur_post['username'] = $cur_post['poster'];
$user_title = get_title($cur_post);

in viewforum.php

try changing it to

// get_title() requires that an element 'username' be present in the array
$cur_post['username'] = $cur_post['poster'];
$user_title = "Rank:";
$user_title .= get_title($cur_post);

if this si the right spot in the code where it displays the rank, it should work.

well, its very buggy right now, but im making one with someone else.

http://charoncms.net

also, you could wait for PunCMS wink

They will have to use the "Forgotten your password?"-function to have their passwords sent by mail (not their own password, but a new generated one).

I've had some thoughs of making a mod that removes this problem... don't know if I'll ever make it though.

but how could you do this? if the passes are encrypted, there is no way to decrypt them. you could brute force each and everyone, but that would take yearsfor one user. i think it was smart to even use the Forgot your password for thid.
