The website looks great. Nice work! Oh, and thank you again for the donation smile

Rickard: Will there be any changes of the marking of your own posts in 1.3, so that they will not be marked as a new post?

I'll look into that. I can't really say now.

No fast way - This one I understand, it shouldn't be implemented if it will slow down the forum.
No elegent way - What do you think of taking away the "Mark all topics as read" link and put a "Show unread posts" link there instead that would show all unread posts ever, in chronological order (like "Show unanswered posts")?

See Pauls reply. There's significant database storage involved in that.

sparq wrote:

Also there is one thing I would like to know: is there a reason for why "Show recent posts"
has a time limit while there is no time limit for "Show unanswered posts"?

Let's say that you log in to your account but you don't have time to read all new posts, then the posts will not be marked as unread the next time you log in. Then you can find these posts with "Show recent posts" but not if you wait to long to log in again, because of the time limit. Because of this I think it would be great to take the time limit away. But maybe there's some other reasons for keeping it?

It's the same issue. We would have to keep track of the viewing of all topics from all users. It's just not feasible from a database standpoint.

PunBB is not UTF-8, BLOG:CMS is. I suggest you ask the BLOG:CMS people.

The problem with guest post flood control is that the only thing you can rely on is the remote IP address. Cookies are pretty much useless in fighting spam since they are just ignored by whatever script or bot is doing the posting. However, if you're just trying to prevent "real users" from posting too often, a simple fix would be to set a cookie with the time of the posting and then to check that cookie on the next post and make sure at least X seconds has passed.

Captchas are unfortunately out of the question due to them being completely unusable by, for example, blind people.

What I mean by "proper" mark as read functionality is that when you read a topic that has been posted to since your last visit, it will no longer be marked as containing new posts (for that session!). It does not mean that you're "unread" topics are marked as such forever. I can't really think of a situation where you want to save that data for that long. When you are away from a forum for some time and then come back, you're interested in which topics have been posted to. You're not interested in which topics had been posted to the last time you were there.

In short. The only difference between the way it works now and the way it will work in 1.3 is that in 1.3, when you read a topic that was marked as containing "new posts", that indicator will turn off.

There is to my knowledge no fast and elegant way of implementing a long term read/unread posts marking system. Thus, it won't be in PunBB.

Just in case anyone wants to try this out here on punbb.org, don't bother. I've implemented Pauls fix above.

It's not a font that you can download. A friend of mine drew it in Illustrator.

Cool stuff quaker. Just don't spend too much time on it. I have no intention of changing the logo. I love it too much smile

yeah, how much? i've been looking for one that's not under contract. is it unlocked as well?

I bought it from the Swedish Internet store Katching for 3444 Swedish Kroner (about ?370). It's not locked or branded in any way.

Now you should check this out! It's a new 'Crazy Frog' thing and I was told it is Swedish make.

It sounds more like Finnish actually, but then again, there are a lot of Finnish people in Sweden smile It's very annoying though.

Very strange indeed. I very much doubt it's a problem with extern.php though. Having a look at the output from extern.php, we can see that PunBB isn't spitting that 1 out:

http://www.psychotopia.ch/extern.php?ac … amp;show=3

Well, one could just close the p tag in the rules text, but I agree, it probably shouldn't be there.

Paul? Can you remove it from 1.3?

I had the pleasure of playing around with a W850 the other day (a friend of mine works as a tester at Sony Ericsson). It's very nice indeed, but I'm not a big fan of the sliding thing. I prefer phone that are "static".

If you use the start/stop button on the side of the 750i, it resumes play from where you stopped it.

Haha, you're right smile Oh well, I want the W810i anyway smile

It sounds to me as if there's a cache or proxy interfering. Especially since the posts "appear" after a while.

I just talked to a friend of mine who has the W810i and it remembers where in the song you were when you close the player! Yay! I just ordered one. Anyone wanna buy a K750i? smile

elbekko: I don't know. I've just used the built-in.

In 1.3, someone will be able to make a very simple extension for this.

Disable Norton Internet Security or Zonealarm or any kind of "Internet security" app you have running and try again.

Doesn't really matter.

Which port you use shouldn't matter as long as you use the same URL as "Base URL" to administer the forums.

Just edit "Base URL" in admin/options. That's it.

I recently bought a Sony Ericsson K750i. It's a really great phone. It does however have one little quirk I just can't live with. It isn't possible to pause an MP3 and then minimize the MP3 player and use the phone to, for example, make a call. You have to keep the MP3 playing and then minimize the MP3 player or stop the playback and close the MP3 player alltogether. For some odd reason, the minimize option is greyed out when you've paused an MP3. This probably isn't an issue for most people, but I've started to listen to a lot of podcasts lately and they usually last 30 to 60 minutes. My daily walk to and from work takes 30 minutes in total. This means if I start to listen to a podcast when I go to work and I want to continue listening to it when I walk home, I have to fast-forward 15 minutes and that takes forever on this thing. The fast-forward is really slow and the speed at which it fast-forwards doesn't increase when you hold the button in. Even worse, the next morning, I have to fast-forward 30 minutes.

So, I'm looking for a new phone (again) and I'm considering a Sony Ericsson W810i. It's basically the same phone as the K750i, but I'm guessing it has had some MP3 player improvements (hence, the Walkman branding). Now, do any of you own one of these? If so, could you please check if it's possible to pause playback and then minimize the player? Or maybe the W810i has logic to memorize where you are in a song and continue from there the next time you start the player? As soon as someone can confirm this, I'm orderning.
