Re: PunBB 1.3 official extensions (61 replies, posted in News)
there is no need for the copy right notice it makes a forum look that little bit complicated for new people.

Re: PunBB 1.3 official extensions (61 replies, posted in News)
that was just something to bump the topic up lol..
yeah eg this site
Currently used extensions: pun_extension_reinstaller, pun_topic_online_users, pun_karma, pun_e_mail_auth, pun_repository, pun_bbcode. Copyright © 2008 PunBB
just i dont think you need to put the copyright notice on that extension?

Re: PunBB 1.3 official extensions (61 replies, posted in News)
i just dont see the point in this. you shouldnt brand all your extensions just so it shows on a fluxbb forum?

homerzhu wrote:fluxbb or punbb....................which one is better now and in future? which has more extensions? which has more themes? which ?
Well PunBB is just FluxBB using really, Its just using the same code.
No themes are currently available because Paul is working hard on the new style sheet over on FluxBB.
As PunBB is using the same code as FluxBB, You should be able to use any of the FluxBB / PunBB extensions / styles on either of the forums.
in the future fluxbb will be moving away from what punbb will be. yeah they are using the same code base, but hopefully punbb will use there own ideas and only use fluxbb for security updates.
there is a descusion about if fluxbb is going tableless on most of the pages or not now punbb don't have to copy that but most likley will because it will allow cross compatiblity of styles and mods. now it would be good if punbb didnt use there tableless code beucase they might end up relying on fluxbb's mods and styles too much.

Re: PunBB 1.3 official extensions (61 replies, posted in News)
Any reason why you have "Copyright © 2008 <a href="http://punbb.informer.com/">PunBB</a>" In the extension hook browser. Its not needed and if its used on fluxbb it can make it look weird and useless.?

instead of writing the html directly, add it to $alert_items
$alert_items[] = '<p class="first-alert"> Where does this output??</p>';
+1 I forgot about that.

Re: Trying to understand hooks? (11 replies, posted in PunBB 1.3 extensions)
you have to reinstall the extension becuase you try it. there is a fluxbb/punbb one that will allow you to reinstall it without removing and re-uploading the files. Try this: http://elbekko.stringsandints.com/fluxb … extension/

Re: sub-forums? (4 replies, posted in PunBB 1.3 extensions)
1.3 hasnt been released as a stable and final product. Yes there will be support and a extension for sub forums, but the chances are if the punbb developers dont, then the Fluxbb developers will, and support for it will only be on fluxbb.

Re: Do you need to be a programmer to use Punbb? (5 replies, posted in General discussion)
http://www.punres.org/files.php?pid=60
The only file that is downloadable is 1.1.3.zipHowever I have punbb 1.2.17, and that version isnt compatible with my board. So i cant have a poll on my board
Lots of people have been asking for mods to be "upgraded" to work on the current version of PunBB. However in most cases there is not really a need to ask for this. All you need to do is:
1. Open install_mod.php
2. Find line 12
3. Add the version of the forum you are using to the version array
4. Save and uploadThat's it.
Your version array should then look something like this...
$punbb_versions = array('1.2.8', '1.2.9', '1.2.10');

Re: Do you need to be a programmer to use Punbb? (5 replies, posted in General discussion)
Because I can't figure out how to use polls and the explanations are so complicated, it makes me think that you really need to be a programmer if you want to do something like use a poll.
Please let me know now before I continue to build my forum so I can switch to something thats more for newbies like me and not for advanced users.
I've been wanting to make a poll for a month but I cant and I get errors.
thank you
ps - if everyone want's poll software, then shouldnt it just be included in it without making it a plugin?
you making a poll?? Why dont you just download it and install it.
And no one wants polls in the core of punbb?? You dont have to be a programmer to use punbb beucase all the programmers do it for you. We have loads of poll mods at punres.org
