For 1.2: go to a MD5 converter such as http://md5.eikern.net/ and changing it in the database. cool

At the moment mods are limited for 1.3 so there is not one for 1.3.

Over at punres.org: http://www.punres.org/viewtopic.php?id=656 for 1.2.*

Ouch... Im assuming it down to pun_quote  and not something like parser...

When you quote this post the signature code appers in the quote, half as bbcode and half as html...

There was anyother post i found which did something like this too.. Ill have a look.

why not? vb, ipb, phpbb3, smf all have it as an optional feature by in their core by default. its definitely useful when you look at the extreme limitations of bbcode.

The forums you said above arnt set out to be Fast and lightweight like Punbb is meant to be. your average forum admin would most likely not need this as a required function and thus will be an extension.

well <embed> is missing for one (something i could use on my board).

Its hard when deciding what the general population will need a feature or wont. Some may see it as a required item however most don't need it, and having it to limit all html exploits could cause Punbb to go downhill on fast and lightweight.

There are limmited styles avaliable for 1.3.X because the css and markup has a planned clean up and re-write, which will create the current styles un-useable.

Strofanto wrote:

That's for v1.2, what about 1.3?

to include a file in 1.3 you use <!-- forum_include "FILE" --!> .

Could one of the mods change this thread title to something meaningful, please?

Done.

When will they ever learn!!!

marc100 wrote:

oh my God that looks so complicated. Why is it so complicated to install mods in punbb?
this is like brain surgery

When 1.2 was developed, that was the only method that was ideal when installing modification..

However 1.3 uses a one click install and un-install, so you can easily install mods and can upgrade your forum without having to go though a hard and time consuming process.

To do this you can edit the permissions of the user groups so they cant post in the forum.

*Anatonly: Bug: When you quick quote the post above it dosnt put the [ URL ] in.

It is reccomended to upgrade to the latest release.

You would need to install the sub forums modification avaliable over at pun res.

I tried for me and didn't work

the option only appers when you have more than one style in the directory.

Try remove all the files and databases you have created for this. Download 1.3.1 and create a new database and try that.

You need to upgrade to the latest version 1.3.1from here

Next time, use the SEARCH button on the site, if you had searched, you would of found the answer, even though the results are for 1.2 it still will show you what you need to edit to get it to work with 1.3.

Fact even the 1.2 tutorial works on 1.3, so you would of been able to get your answer which has been answered before if you search.

Just got an email from my host (apthost.com) saying that apache will not be in use anymore, and that .htaccess and mod_rewrite rules are no longer suported:

One of the major upgrades is replacing Apache as the front-end server
to handle all of your web-content delivery, this will be replaced by
Nginx.

It was a hard decision, but it's one we must make to improve service
to our customers today, and in the future. Its important you know what
the impact of this is , as it will affect the behavior of your
website.

The main reason for the switch was for speed, in which you will notice
as soon as the switch is made, in which we plan to deploy 1-2 weeks
from today.
How would this affect my website?

The only impact would be .htacess files, Nginx does not support it,
means all of your mod_rewrite rules would have to be converted to nginx
rewrite rules. Since nginx uses conditional code for rewrite rules,
its easy to do so, and there is a lot of websites out there describing
how to do so, like:

I dont have a working local install to test this out but open up forums_urls.php in the file based (fancy) folder and change the post to:

    'post'                            =>    'post$1-$2.html#p$1',

Yes you can.

Yeah, However search engines dont care. Its always usefull to have a solution, that way when people search for it, they have an answer. wink
