Can't you just use the disable post count feature in admin options?

200 people using MySQL = high server load. It's not a bug or anything, it's what you'd expect.

Upgraded thanks. (Even though I have image verification installed anyway, which also blocks out any chance of a DoS attack on the registrations).

I love it. Definitely will be using this in the future.

It's a server issue, should only happen if the server clock is messed with.

short tags are off in the default httpd.conf that comes with Apache, so more like anyone who didn't turn them on tongue

The password salt suggestion isn't a bad one though.

Nicely intergrated into the layout, looks good.

Well if the host has php mail() disabled and doesn't give SMTP, it may well block SMTP connections too, to any host.

cannot contact smtp host 'mail.btinternet.com'.

The fact it can't contact the host would imply that too, since I can contact it fine.

1) Buy a domain and hosting somewhere, you can usually find a good deal on www.webhostingtalk.com.
2) Download punbb from http://punbb.org/downloads.php
3) Copy/upload all contents of the directory upload/ into the directory where you want to run your forums.
4) Run install.php from the forum root directory (e.g. open http://mydomain/myforums/install.php in your browser). Follow the instructions.

If you run into any problems installing punbb have a look at http://docs.punbb.org, if that doesn't help try http://punbb.org/forums/search.php, if that fails too, post it and im sure someone will be more than willing to help.

Buy some real hosting from somewhere (check webhostingtalk.com forums for ideas), download punbb from http://punbb.org/downloads.php then follow the instructions in its documentation.

Your board is hosted on MyPunBB, problems with MyPunBB should be directed to MyPunBB support.

PunBB is a forum software
MyPunBB is a host which offers free hosting for forums, running PunBB.

By the look of it MyPunBB is down.

Upgrade to the not free package would be the easy option.

As i said, leave them blank to use the built in php mail() function, theres no need to use SMTP at all.

If leaving it blank isn't working then ask your host why php mail() doesn't work (or check the TOS/FAQ to see if it's disabled for a reason).

Leave the SMTP details blank unless you have a reason to use them. It will default to using php's mail() function.

Since your using mypunbb you would need to get a domain and point it to a redirection service, then have that service redirect it to wrath.mypunbb.com. Im pretty sure www.godaddy.com will do a redirection service (aswell as sell the domain).

Im pretty sure the idea is to show off real forums, especially modded ones, rather than mypunbb.

Yes, you could create a php script to run the mysql query to create a new post, then move the old post (you would need to store the old posts id somewhere i presume?). Then add this script to crontab, to run once a day at midnight. (you would also want to make sure your script is outside public_html, to avoid others being able to run it).

Do you compile this yourself to verify that it's not a keylogger or do you just believe it's not?

Just asking... tongue

You take their word for it tongue They have over 50,000 users so my guess is if it was a scam someone would have noticed by now.

I couldn't find any evidence of whatpulse being used around here, so thought id see what views people had on it, or if anyone else used it? I have now had it installed for abit over a year, and still use it.

Simply put, it's a program which counts how many keys you press, and how many times you click your mouse, then adds them to a database on its server. You are then ranked against other users. There is also the ability to join teams, which are then ranked against other teams.

There is no real point to it, or use of it, however it is quite interesting to do.

My community has a team we started a week or so ago, which is currently ranked 140th (boo sad). You can see some team stats here.

Do you feel that you could have moved your hands, keystroke by keystroke, across the globe twice every day? Interested in finding out just how much you type a day?

Well then welcome to the WhatPulse for irc.whatnet.org homepage. This website <-> software combination is the best way of keeping track of your keystrokes.

How does it work?

WhatPulse opens a so-called "keyhook" when it's booted, which listens to incoming Windows messages about the keyboard, the keyhook sends these messages to the program itself, and the program first determines if the key pressed is a proper key (Every standard keyboards' keys are counted) and then simply does PreviousKeyCount + 1.

Pulsing: When you "pulse", you're actually sending your keycounts in the program to the server along with other information about your Account, so the server can decide where to put the keycount. If the pulse goes according to plan, the server sends back an "OK", and the client's keycount is reset to 0 (zero), and your previous keys are added to your profile in the server database! smile

And for all you people who are thinking "oeh mi god a keylogger, no way!", well, exactly, No way. WhatPulse is not and never will be any sort of keylogger, it does not collect the keys you type, but only how many keys you type.
