wfox wrote:Why the people will use PunBB and no other BB?
I suggest you look into these classes.
To reiterate what others have already said, PunBB is a forum. People think of Internet forums, and they think of private messages and calendars. When I think of a forum, I think of it as it's definition: "A public meeting place for open discussion."
If you want a forum, PunBB is for you. If you want other stuff, go with something else.

Best. Software. Ever.
I would re-upload those files that gave you errors before anything else.

Are you sure it's Mozilla that released it? I know it's based upon Mozilla's technology, but to the best of my knowledge it's made by third party developers.
It's not made by the Mozilla foundation. It is just built off of their work.
I have an iPod, so I use iTunes. i don't really need another media player.
No problem. You're certainly welcome.

avantman42 wrote:One of my users has a rather odd problem. Her first report of problems was as follows:
Last night and tonight I've noticed a slightly peculiar and rather annoying problem with these boards (which problem I did not have previously, and cannot account for with regard to my own computer set-up, as I haven't made any changes to it recently that I can think of).
I can post quite happily as a "new" post, but when I try to reply to a specific post, using the "Quote" button, it doesn't work. I get the box with the quoted text up, all right, and I type my reply, but when I hit "Submit", it just sits there failing to load the new page. But if I remove the quoted text and paraphrase what the other person said, it works.
(If it helps, I'm using a Dell Latitude laptop with a Pentium III processor, Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2 and Mozilla Firefox 1.0.4.)
My first reaction was "upgrade Firefox", since 1.0.4 had security-related bugs, if for no other reason. However, she did that, and still has the same problem:
Okay, I have upgraded and tried to post this using the "Quote" button.
It didn't work. It displayed exactly the same behaviour as before - the little box where it shows the progress of the page loading remained obstinately blank. Neither opening a new tab nor closing and restarting Firefox had any effect.
(Incidentally, it's not - or not only - the quote tags; removing those and enclosing the quoted text in inverted commas was another thing I tried and found to not work.)
Does anybody have any idea what the problem could be? I use Firefox 1.0.7 on Ubuntu at home, and I used to use Firefox 1.5 on WinXP at work (until my boss told me to remove it) and now I use IE 6. I've never seen this problem, and don't really know where to start.
Any ideas will be gratefully received.
Russ
1) Do you or anyone besides her have any trouble quoting?
2) Can I have a link to your board?
3) Did she clear her cache and remove all of your board's cookies and start fresh?
I have had this board for over a year now, and I recently opened it up to the public. I'd like to know what you guys think of my little board, and what I can do to improve it.
http://bassguy.tk/forums (No, my site is not a .tk redirect. I actually bought that top-level domain.)
I am using "Novin" as my theme, and I really like only having a few board. I hate having to scroll down three pages to find the only board I am interested in.
Thanks for checkin' it out, guys.
Wow... That's a pretty cool extension. I'll install it now. Good idea, Rickard.
Thanks for the link, Limber.
Rickard wrote:I'm sorry, but nothing tonight. It's just too much work and I don't want to half-ass it. Then again, this commit will mostly affect markup and stylesheets, so pretty much the only thing of interest to you guys is that you can get a glimpse of how things will look.
Certainly don't want anything half-assed. I don't want 1.3 to come out whenever, then the next week have to update again for a security flaw. I will be waiting with bated breath.
I installed it, and something interesting happened. I have IE "disabled" on my XP box, so I usually type http:// into "Windows Explorer" to bring up IE. After I applied the IE 7 Beta 2, it now brings up Firefox (my default browser) when I enter a URL into it. Very handy, and worth patching.
Thanks, man. This certainly is interesting. I am a big Digg user, so this is certainly a familiar concept.
Sure, I'd like to try it out. If you're up for it, my E-mail address is bassguy@gmail.com

Good to hear, Rickard. In this case, pretty much any news is good news.
I assume you mean "Thanks."
I'm sure it has a Read Me file. Read that.
That is awesome. Good show, Code. Good show.
I think I will install that today.

Boy was I surprised to see this thread. Rickard, why aren't you pimping this in the PunBB news? What better way is there to make money / get noticed than to sell swag? I think at the very least there could be a link to the shop on the sidebar of the site.
Reines wrote:Odis wrote:I like Reines idea. Can someone elaborate on regex more? and does anyone know if it works with punbb?
Taking a look at the censor function, no punbb doesn't support regex censors just now. I assume this is because if it did then all censors would need to be regex, and alot of people have trouble with it. If you wish to change it so punbb will allow you to add regex censors (keep in mind this would require all your censors to be regex compatable) then you can simply open include/functions.php and find
$search_for[$i] = '/\b('.str_replace('\*', '\w*?', preg_quote($search_for[$i], '/')).')\b/i';
and replace with
$search_for[$i] = '/\b('.str_replace('\*', '\w*?', $search_for[$i]).')\b/i';
If you need help with using regex's, there is a good tutorial here: http://weblogtoolscollection.com/regex/regex.php
That was a great tutorial. Maybe this is something I should look into deeper.
Wow. That looks really good. What style are you using?

You could always use a jabber client to message with GTalk users, though. I ran it on my *nix box using Gaim on launch day.

1. Is there subboards?
2. Can you include the BBCode, and Smilies in the post new topic
3. Is it possible to have another Table in the thread view that shows the author?
There are no subboards. But you can have that feature through a mod. You can get it here.
I don't understand what you mean. Please rephrase the question.
There is a mod for this. You can get it here.
